This is the fourth time we have visited South Moor for this competition and yet again we have had an amazing experience. The course is excellent and the organizers and volunteers from the club make the event fantastic. Thank you to everyone involved and for the club for putting on such a great event. The Greenkeepers also managed to keep the course in excellent condition despite horrendous weather. Many thanks to all.

We have played here a number of time Over the last year. Currently the course is in excellent condition at the moment and so are the greens. The pro shop is very well stocked. Staff and members are friendly and is definitely worth a visit.

The most welcoming course I've ever been to.

Wanted to play here for a while and wasn't disappointed.
The pro shop is one of the very best I've seen on a course. Picked up a bargain trade in driver. The fella in The shop couldn't Have been more helpful.
The course itself is good. Quite challenging but some good opportunities to score well, except the 15th, dog leg, a real round destroyer. Take your time on this hole.
The members we met here were very friendly.
Had a big breakfast sandwich at the bar after the round, amazing.
Definitely going back.

Great Course
Jun 2018 • Friends
Visited as we get disconnected green fees through our membership of a different club. The course was in good condition and the greens consistent, the only negative is the clubhouse. The bar could do with a lick of paint and some new wallpaper. The pro shop is excellent and very well stocked. All in all a good day was had and we will return

Golfing Event - MacKenzie Masters
May 2018 • Solo
For any golfer at trip is a must. A great golfing challenge on a MacKenzie designed course. Great hospitality and a friendly welcome from all. Shot shaping is vital as is yardage control. Heathland layout to undulating greens. Check their website for the MacKenzie Masters order of merit events.

A hidden gem

My son and I played here as visitors on Bank Holiday Friday special deal. For £20 you get to play on one of the most delightful courses in the area, and I've played many around the North East.
The course is kept immaculate and a more friendlier bunch of people from the Pro to the bar staff to the members out on the course, you couldn't wish to meet.
Virtually every hole is different with some big changes in elevation over the whole course, this allows for long hanging drives on several downhill holes and very testing shots on some of the uphill or dog leg holes.
You really need to think your way around this testing but fair track and your score will improve after a second visit as you then know where to place your drives and approach shots.
There are not many private courses in the region that allows visitors to play on either weekend day, but as long as there is no competitions on or the tee already fully booked, you are welcomed with open arms. Dare I say that at £22 for a weekend visitor, South Moor is an absoloute steal of a deal, I for one will be visiting on many more occasions, I just wished I lived closer than the 33 miles it takes to get there but it's worth the journey and the effort.
Well done South Moor, you haven't lost sight of the fact that golf should be a game able to be played by all on a choice of friendly and well kept courses, you get mine and my son's vote 😀🖒
