I think there's nothing more fulfilling we could do on a sunny autumn day than to engage in an easy 3.5 hour hike through the renowned vineyard Terraces of Lavaux in the western region of Switzerland. The 800 hectares vine terraces which can be traced back to the 11th century was enlisted on a UNESCO World Heritage since 2007.

Throughout the hike between St. Saphorin and Lutry we were able to relish the unique landscape, the picturesque villages and the magnificent views of the alps and Lac Leman.

We were just a bit disappointed that all the resto along the way were closed. So, be sure to bring some water and snacks whenever you undertake this trip towards the end of October.

From Zurich main station we took the train to Lausanne then we've changed to a regional train to St. Saphorin. The serpentine-like trail is well marked with green signage " Terrasses de Lavaux"---follow this until Lutry, the quaint village, where we took the train back to Lausanne then to Zurich.

As California wine lovers, we had to try the “only in Switzerland” wines, and picked a great spot to do it. The winery is easily reached by the local train using the free public transportation pass given by most hotels. It has a nice view of Lutry, is small and personal, and has great wines. The tasting fee of 12 CHF included 5 wines and a enough cheese, sausage and crackers that it can make a light meal. The pours were more generous than most tasting rooms, expecting you to take time to pair the wine with the different snacks. The staff was fun and very knowledgeable. We were there on a rainy day, but they have a terrace that would be great on a sunny afternoon.

This was one of the few wineries open on a Sunday, we did a tasting of 5 wines and snacks for 12 CHF each and bought 3 bottles. The wine was excellent! They had a number of reds and whites - I had whites and my husband tried the reds. My favorite was the Lutry Traditional and we also bought the Gamaret Garanior and the Plant Robert. Caroline “Grandma” runs the tasting room - she speaks perfect English and was super knowledgeable. She also had two adorable pugs, Muffin and Oreo, that we discovered behind the counter when we checked out. She was really charming and gave us some recommendations for the rest of our trip. It was such a nice experience and I highly recommend this winery for the delicious wines and ambience!

We visited Lutry yesterday to take the Lavaux Express for a one hour trip around the vineyards. However, the 15:00 ride was full so after some research we knocked on Terres de Lavaux doors. Very tastefully made place, great wine tasting (CHF 9 per person for 03 types of wine) and I didn’t catch the gentleman’s name but he was amazing! Spoke fluent English, let us charge our phone, knowledgeable and insightful about the wines and the region and provided great recommendations for food and a walk up the vineyards. The snacks were so good that we requested for a second helping. All their wines were light, refreshing and flavorful... Highly recommend a stop here while touring Lutry/the Lavaux region.

從洛桑開車到這裡只需要15分鐘,這裡可以試飲到Lavaux各種紅白酒,環境寧靜,坐在露台位置可以欣賞日內瓦湖風景. 店主很健談,向我們介紹了更多瑞士景店。
We take 15 minutes to drive here from Lausanne. It’s really nice place if you are looking for local good wine. Sitting outside you can see Geneva Lake and Lavaux. Owner really nice. Kindly to introduce us a lot wine knowledge and differences kind of wine in Switzerland. Don’t miss it if you are going to visit Lutry and Lavaux.

Delicious wines and amazing service. Olivier was very knowledgeable about the production process and entertained my curious mind. The Rosé is to die for!! You must come sip some wine and see their view from the balcony!

We drove from Lausanne to explore these terraces and stopped at a few places to do a some hiking. We were lucky to be there on a beautiful day. The views of the terraced vineyards cascading down, with Lake Geneva and the Alps across is simply magnificent.

The Lavaux are just spectacular. There are many well signed walks throughout the Lavaux taking you through quaint villages and delightful walks through the extensive vineyards. You can stop off at any of the many local wine sellers who offer wine tasting and food. The wine is surprisingly expensive though.... You can view the terraces from either the little train which starts off at either Lutry or Cully or from one of the many boat trips from Lausanne. Recommended.

This is a good starting point for a walk among the vineyards and grapes, moving in the direction of Villette, Cully, Epesses, Rivaz, Vevey. The views of the Alps, the Geneva lake, and the terraces are amazing. The best moment to visit is the end of the summer. The walk is relatively difficult considering that the best views are from higher levels. There are several small villages in the area and wineries. I suggest to bring some drinks and food for longer walks; few, small picnic facilities are available. The best access to the area is given by the railway station of Lutry, especially if you are willing to climb the hills. An alternative access to the area is provided by the railway station of Bossiere, which is located at an higher level so that most of the walk in in descent. The station of Grandvaux is a valid alternative for a walk, in the opposite direction, to Lutry; a bus from Lausanne is serving the area.
