1/2 day rally experience booked for our 15 year old son as a birthday present. We were made to feel welcome from The moment we arrived. Left him to it for the start while we stayed and had a great full English breakfast. As parents we were made to feel really at home by the Birbecks. Ben had a great time, only the second time behind a wheel but quickly got the hang of it with helpful advice from the instructors. Constant smile on his face as the speeds got faster throughout his 3 sessions which were a lot longer than we had expected. We would really recommend this a a great day out and a fantastic experience for any young person.

Very informal and fun day - the layout of the track made driving the Subaru challenging, exhilarating and exciting with both tarmac and gravel sections. The instructors were friendly and I was soon allowed to put myself and the car through its paces! If you are booking then go for the full day, it all comes together in the afternoon and I would have been gutted to leave after the mornings two sessions on track. Thanks to everyone at the rally school and Arches hotel for giving us a memorable weekend.

This was a junior rally experience for my 12yr old son. In summary from him; he loved it - all of it! I'll try and be more descriptive! The initial introduction was in the hotel. From there, the group were minibused to the track. Bear this in mind as you are quite a long way from your car. So before you head into the hotel for your briefing, gather your weather clothes, drinks etc. And visit the loo before boarding the minibus, as there isn't one at the other end. The ten minute minibus journey was an experience in itself! I'll leave that there. The track is what you'd expect; a fab layout of intertwining tarmac roads, gravel tracks, humps, hollows and bends. There were five juniors who took it in turns to drive, with the instructor as passenger. Four?? laps each turn; the instructor teaching them about car control and rallying via their headsets throughout. After three runs, the junior became the passenger for some thrills in the Subaru, driven by the instructor. The whole experience for my boy was fantastic. He had the best time. Now can I add a footnote for parents/spectators. The portacabin, and the steps and landing to it, are basic. If you're likely to want a drink etc, take it with you. But remember, there is no toilet and you are over there for easily three hours. There are steps up a soil mound to a viewing area where you can see most of the track to get photos and videos. It is exposed - think weather. Sun, flies, rain, flies wind, flies! In summary, it was a fabulous day and good value for money. IMO, If I owned the site, I would have someone down at the track with a strimmer, tidying up a little bit. Add a bin or two to minimise the rubbish people leave. And I'd tart-up the portacabin/steps etc, replace some dodgy wooden bits...bla bla... to keep the appearance of the place as professional as the staff. However, I get that the day is about the driver, not the mother! The mother just gets to pay for it ;-) Do it. Book it. It's fab.

Thanks for your comments Jackie, reviews like this mean the world to us. Both in letting people know what our school is like, but also for us to reflect and learn from. We're in the process of looking for a good way to smarten up the experience and the portacabin is definitely step one. Unfortunately in the past we have tried some more permanent fixtures (such as toilets) but have had some trouble with vandalism. Hopefully in the not too distant future we will be able to invest into the portacabin in order to bring it up to a much nicer standard and include some better facilities including a toilet and hopefully something for littler ones to do. Glad you enjoyed your day, who knows maybe we'll see you again (in a much nicer portacabin) All the best, The Chris Birkbeck Rally Team

Whilst you can't guarantee the weather, you are guaranteed a great day out a Chris Birkbeck Rallyschool. I was very fortunate to win one of their competitions and what a day it was. We had rain in the morning then red-hot sun in the afternoon, but it doesn't really matter when you're in the car 😀 You learn so much, whether you're a first timer or you've done it before, you'll definitely learn something. The hospitality and instruction are second to none and the experience is amazing. If you're thinking about it, stop thinking, DO IT, you'll not regret it! I would recommend the full day if you can afford it because you'll learn more, see a much bigger improvement in your driving and just have more hours of fun in the mud!! Great day, thanks all at CBR.
