Stunning sunset
Aug 2021
My advice is to go by the time of the sunset. The location is perfect to see one perfect sunset.
After leaving the car near a Camping, you have to climb an easy path, it take about 20 minutes walkig, to arrive on the top of the hill where the abandoned village is located.
The village is a group of ruined stones houses which aren't allowed to enter, but the view is stunnig.

The only problem is that the site is not mentioned or signaled anywhere, so the beginning of the path is hard to find, but you can ask to peolpe with backpack!

A Challenging Walk
Sep 2019
The walk is not easy and quite a climb but well worth the views and to explore the abandoned village.

Nice walk
Jul 2019 • Couples
It's a nice walk up and down. Village is somewhat fascinating but not truly intriguing. Great view! Easy to reach the summit if you are properly dressed (i.e not shorts).

Quite a climb but nice at top

I'm not sure what else I can add to the other reviews of this walk except to take plenty of water. A steep climb and in spring was very exposed and hot.
However the fauna going up is pretty amazing. Take your time, enjoy the pants and scenery - it's easy coming down.
You can't go into any of the buildings - all sealed off.

Great views
Sep 2018 • Family
It's quite a climb and you really need sturdy footwear as the "path" is loose rocks in places with very uneven surfaces. Great views from the top and there happened to be some live music in Occi church (the only building still in one piece). Great views but be prepared to sweat!

Well worth the climb
Sep 2018 • Couples
The deceptively steep climb fades from the memory when you reach the village and look down over the plain and sea. It is incredible to imagine people actually living there. What a view they had but life must have been hard and self sufficient and getting about by mule or foot. Just above the church, and easily missed, is a path that leads above the protruding rock to a well-preserved threshing circle that gives even better views and looks down on the village. Rather than go back down the same way, try the circular route that crosses the mountain side to a small chapel and weaves down into Lumio. The beer at the café adjacent to the church was brilliant

Stunning views, fascinating ruins
Sep 2018 • Couples
We parked near the entrance to camping panoramic and the walk took 30-40mins. Looked like an old mule track so wasn't too steep but is climb all the way. Was very quiet at top, bumped into a couple of families who had walked from the other direction. We explored the surrounding area and found lots of other abandoned houses and interesting market place no one else went to. Well worth a visit.

Amazing

An abandoned stone-wall village, high up on a mountainside above Lumio village. The village, when you eventually get there, is very beautiful and atmospheric, and I am sure keen photographers would get very excited by the ruins.

Lovely walk for a great view
Aug 2018 • Family
Thanks to other reviewers we parked on the road near Camping Panoramic - this was great for access to the path up the hill (it's over the road just down from the campsite entrance), but walking with small children along the road bit was a little hairy. The walk up was fun and pleasant - it isn't entirely easy though, good shoes needed, but at 6, 9, 11, 39 and 40 we managed it just fine. Once you get to the top it's lovely to explore, and spend time sitting and enjoying the view. Take plenty of water.

Don’t underestimate the ‘walk’ to get there
Aug 2018 • Couples
Glad we saw this very photogenic abandoned stone-wall village, high up on a mountainside above Lumio village.
The walk to access it is suitable only for the able-bodied, with a steep gradient (1:1 most of the way) on slippery rocks and stones. Sensible shoes, water and hats essential.
The village, when you eventually get there, is very beautiful and atmospheric, and I am sure keen photographers would get very excited by the ruins and surrounds.
It is just a stone ruin, no shops, no water. Choose your time of day to go . I would suggest anyone with cardiac or respiratory problems gives this a miss.
