    An interesting wreck
Wreckage is located about 10 minutes drive from Paphos. You have to park and walk a hundred meters to get to Edro III. The site is free. It's quite disturbing to see a boat stranded so close to shore. Today it is an imposing pigeon marker (in relation to the photos). Do not hesitate to go to both sides of the coast to see different viewpoints and in particular see the bridge. With the caves in the rock in the background, it is a beautiful place to take pictures. Unfortunately, we were unable to get there at sunset. Of course, the wreck can't be seen.

The ship is interesting, but so a re the grottos
The famous Edro III shipwreck is located in Coral Bay very near Pegeia Beach. In turbulent weather, the Sierra Leone-flagged EDRO III ran aground on September 8, 2011 on its way from Limassol to Rhodes. It is located in the water a short distance from the beach and grottos. Waze found “Edro ship wreck” and took us right to it. Nearby are fields of banana trees.

    Definitely worth seeing
This was really cool to see and we're glad we included it. We saw it as part of a long walk down the coast which ended essentially around the Edro III for us. It was incredible turning the corner on the coast and seeing this from across the bay. Neither of us had seen a shipwreck before, and certainly not one this well preserved (ish, it is on the coast). You can see it from really close up too. It's a good bit of history, and if you're one of these people that enjoys seeing abandoned things that look a bit lost for life, then this would be perfect for you. It's really not a long trip at all, a sort of seen then done thing, but certainly worth having on your checklist for Cyprus.

My Husband and I brought our son here (10) and my sister (18) and they both had a good time.

The shipwreck itself is a lovely photo opportunity and we took the time to look up its history too.

You can go into the water around the ship, but it’s steep, and people have previously been warned of going to close because of debris coming from the ship.

There’s a lovely little restaurant near by called Oniro by the sea, they sell food and drinks at a reasonable price, and have direct access to the path by the ship.

We visited the site of the Edro III shipwreck twice during our 10 days in Paphos. One in the evening at sunset when we ate dinner at the excellent Oniro By The Sea restaurant and then a second time during the day when we did a 3 hour guided Buggy Safari. As some background for those interested, the Edro III was a Sierra Leone-flagged 80m long merchant ship that ran aground off of Pegeia on the 8th December 2011 in heavy seas. It was on route to Rhodes, from Limassol, with a cargo of plasterboard. The nine crew were safely rescued by a British Military helicopter and the wreck was made safe by the removal of all pollutants and making the hull watertight, which was finished in October 2013. The ship is now very much a popular tourist attraction and as such brings a lot of business to the owner of the Oniro Restaurant and bar.
The Edro III is a great place to watch the sunset and it is very photogenic, as you will see from my pictures. I high recommend a visit, and dinner at Oniro By The Sea is also well worth it (see my separate review).

You can get quite close to the ship, nice place to have a picnic/chill but not much else to it. There are a few cafes nearbys!
I recommend going in the morning or sunset, during the day you have to take pictures against the sun, but it’s not that bad.

We enjoyed exploring the area around the shipwreck for around an hour. You can take some great pictures here and if the tide is out and you are feeling adventurous there are some sea caves you can climb down to explore.
There is a lovely restaurant overlooking the sea called Oniro but it is usually fully booked and anyway it’s overpriced. If you just need a drink or an ice cream then there is a little cafe along the lane.

I was holidaying in Paphos for a short time and before going somewhere I always look at trip advisor to see local attractions. I am so glad this was suggested as the area the sea caves etc it's beauty is breath taking the sea is such a beautiful shade. I decided to get a slush from the ice cream van and decided to stay to watch the sunset which would of been perfect without a youtube idiot ruining the ambiance playing the Saxophone and someone who thought they were Stephen Spielburg filming them and a group of girls thinking they were instagram famous!

The shipwreck is very impressive and good for pictures from every side. We even accessed it by walking its a bit of a long journey but its absolutely possible, just take the bus until Coral Bay area and walk around 30-35 minutes to get there. It is nice also to go to the cafe bar next door but make sure you have a reservation before going since the place is quite demanded as it has the views to the shipwreck

I recall when this ship ran aground. The surrounding coastline was rugged and beautiful but undeveloped. The shipwreck has become such an attraction now that the spot has changed quite a lot with the addition of a great restaurant Oniro but it is still a beautiful sight for photos and to watch the dramatic sunsets.

The closest we have ever been to a shipwreck. It is literally only a few meters from the shore and at sunset allows for some great photo opportunities.

We found free parking close by and one can visit the Paphos sea caves at the same time.

It's really worth going to this place to see it with your own eyes

Edro III freighter in Cyprus. The Edro III is a Cypriot freighter that ran aground on the rocks near Paphos, Cyprus, in December 2011. This was the result of strong winds and bad weather conditions. The ship was about 80 meters long and carried artificial fertilizers. No one was injured in the disaster and the crew was evacuated.

After the disaster, the Edro III ship became a popular destination for tourists and diving enthusiasts. Within a few years after the disaster, the ship's hull slowly began to fall apart and submerge in the water. Despite this, the place still attracted people interested in underwater exploration.

Beautiful place to visit and best sunset with ship wreck in background for great pictures. We have been her a week and a tour operator lady told us it’s a must visit place. The restaurant was shut on a Monday when we visited but u could still walk along top of caves and get some great views of both sea caves and ship wreck. A hidden gem
Also free which is a bonus with 6 of us
