La Grotta is in an amazing spot, but that didn’t get our 1 star because Corfu as an island is 5 stars. The wonderful, happy, polite, professional waitress gets our 1 star, but as Corfu, she deserves 5!
I have never before witnessed and been on the receiving end of such rudeness as a paying, and might I add, a very nice, customer. The bar manager, Nico, is nothing more than a misogynistic pig!! As I went to pay our bill, I remembered his name from the several times we had been before, so I went to the bar with a smile and a ‘Kalispera Nico!’. All very friendly. He then thought it was appropriate to remark on my appearance in a very negative way and ask why I hadn’t been married at least three times because ‘that is what English women do’. As the waitress heard me relay this to my fiancé who could hardly believe what I was saying, she went up to her manager waving her arms at him, he then ran after us saying ‘if you pay cash next time, I’ll give you a discount’. 😂
When we mentioned this unfortunate encounter with some of the locals they unanimously agreed that this man is very rude and they also had had some problems with him.
So, if the wonderful waitress was bar manager and they put Nico in a job that doesn’t require at least smiling to customers, La Grotta would be a 5 star establishment. For now, we won’t be setting foot in there again.

The view was amazing . The sunbed were obviously squashed in as there is little place to bath out with the cafe sunbeds. These are 30 euros per set for a day. We stopped for a drink 2 coke 8 euros can' expect higher cost given location but it was poured from a 2 litre bottle not particularly cold and was most definitely flat. So many people

La grotta, after you climb down the 140 plus steep steps to reach it, you are met with what looks like a nice comfortable bar area, some sun lounges. Down a few more steps you can get in the water.
The water is pretty clear, but also it’s very rocky, there are no steps or ladders into the water which is quite deep from the start, you slide over or walk on rocks in the water or jump in off the diving board.
Changing facilities are minimal, 1 little wooden hut for 1 person or in their toilets of which there are 2.
The drinks are mid range priced the cocktails we had were really not nice so we switched to spirits with mixers which were somewhat better.
When we went there place was about 25% full so pretty quiet but service was slow and inattentive and getting the drinks was slow. Overall I think this place is a bit of a hyped up tourist spot. There are plenty of nicer waters along the Corfu coast, I certainly wouldn’t go back and wouldn't recommend it.

This is the perfect example of how to ruin something good. We've been here multiple times in the last few years and saw things getting worse everytime. Sunbeds are cramped together so they can make the most of money, food and drinks overpriced and service a disaster. It's a pitty how greed cand ruin such a beautiful place. Dont waste your time and money here.

Called down to see what la grotta was all about this evening, firstly there are a lot of steps going down & seems like even more coming back up.
In fairness it’s an enchanting place but despite the place being nearly empty I stood at an almost empty bar waiting on one of 2 barmen to serve me for nearly 10 minutes & then when I did order no beer on draught & the price of a bottle with a vodka & tonic was extortion. One place I won’t be going back to. Pity!!!

I am unsure why TA has recently removed my post and other recent posts relating to the same issue. It’s a bar I have been previously, left a good review - but the management lacks attention to detail in this area and they are smelly and dirty. It’s still a place with a good vibe, lovely at night but these basic facilities should be improved.

This bar/restaurant is nice if you want a busy place to dine/drink, but the real joy is the swimming. Go early before the bar opens at 11.00am or for a drink and swim in the evening. There are deck chairs and lounge chairs to rent - some with umbrellas, others not. worth a visit even if for an after dinner cocktail- excellent margaritas!

We came in the morning at about 9 am and for 2 hours we had the place all to ourselves. This is a great spot for snorkeling, there is no actual beach just big rocks. It is a shame however that people leave trash behind and throw all sorts of things between the rocks. This is lack of education and respect for nature and other tourists.

DONT TAKE THE BOAT!! Apart from the boat elder men, everything is amazing. But the elder men in the boat couldn’t be more rude, he knows how to change a good mood into a bad. So, it has many boats that do the boat cruise, with better price, and mainly, better service and basic politeness standards.

We visited la grotta couple days ago. There was a customer notice indicating not to bring food and drinks. It means all the consumed products are to be sold by the bar. Sadly, what we experience was disgusting for the environment:
There were plastic and glass bottles among other awful trash everywhere on the sea shore. This is damaging the own beauty of the site as all the marine life in the surroundings.
As people are not allowed to bring its own things, it means that is the solely responsibility of the La Grotta Bar.
Unfortunately, we did not bring our cameras with us to take some fotos of the dirty place.
This bar is one of the responsible of the plastic issues in the Paleokastritsas area. Please, take actions and clean your own dirty.

Hi. I'm visiting corfu Aug 8th. Staying in Sidari. Is La grotto accessible by quad & will it be overcrowded.. Thank you.
Written March 10, 2020
Depends on when you go if crowded. Steep stairs and plenty of them. Fantastic though! Car park above or reasonably near by.
