We arrived about 4pm and managed to park on the road, just above the steps leading down to la Grotta. We could hear the music pounding as we got to the steps, and our 18, 16 and 12 year olds couldn’t wait to get down. The music turned out to be excellent and even we 50-somethings felt part of the vibe.

It was quite busy but we found a table immediately. The sun was moving behind the rocks, but we managed a couple of hours sun on the water when the colours were still good - admittedly earlier would have been better.

There was no hard sell for drinks. It was 15 Euros for 2 large fraught beers and a huge bag of crisps which was pretty good, taking in the awesome location. Lots of snorkelling if you didn’t fancy jumping off the rocks or the diving board.

The children even said “thank you for bringing us here “ spontaneously!

not "a pieceful corner" if you want the silence, but if you manage not to think, and just see, sit, drink and relax, you can get a fresh breeze under the shade of the bar, drink a refreshing beer or a cocktail, or a soft drink, if you are that way inclined, and enjoy the view.
if you then love diving, then you can show your braveness, and climb over the rocks and dive in the dee water of that little corner.
part of the show are the amazing natural athletes

Very dificult to judge it to be honest. Place itself as a beauty spot deserves 5 stars, but staff, service a prices only 3 stars, therefore it 4 stars. We have only order 3 drinks and 2 Ice Creams for kids and staff still managed to overcharge us 3€ for an extra item. Mistake? I don't think so...

La Grotta is in an amazing spot, but that didn’t get our 1 star because Corfu as an island is 5 stars. The wonderful, happy, polite, professional waitress gets our 1 star, but as Corfu, she deserves 5!

I have never before witnessed and been on the receiving end of such rudeness as a paying, and might I add, a very nice, customer. The bar manager, Nico, is nothing more than a misogynistic pig!! As I went to pay our bill, I remembered his name from the several times we had been before, so I went to the bar with a smile and a ‘Kalispera Nico!’. All very friendly. He then thought it was appropriate to remark on my appearance in a very negative way and ask why I hadn’t been married at least three times because ‘that is what English women do’. As the waitress heard me relay this to my fiancé who could hardly believe what I was saying, she went up to her manager waving her arms at him, he then ran after us saying ‘if you pay cash next time, I’ll give you a discount’. 😂

When we mentioned this unfortunate encounter with some of the locals they unanimously agreed that this man is very rude and they also had had some problems with him.

So, if the wonderful waitress was bar manager and they put Nico in a job that doesn’t require at least smiling to customers, La Grotta would be a 5 star establishment. For now, we won’t be setting foot in there again.

Called down to see what la grotta was all about this evening, firstly there are a lot of steps going down & seems like even more coming back up.

In fairness it’s an enchanting place but despite the place being nearly empty I stood at an almost empty bar waiting on one of 2 barmen to serve me for nearly 10 minutes & then when I did order no beer on draught & the price of a bottle with a vodka & tonic was extortion. One place I won’t be going back to. Pity!!!

I am unsure why TA has recently removed my post and other recent posts relating to the same issue. It’s a bar I have been previously, left a good review - but the management lacks attention to detail in this area and they are smelly and dirty. It’s still a place with a good vibe, lovely at night but these basic facilities should be improved.

This bar/restaurant is nice if you want a busy place to dine/drink, but the real joy is the swimming. Go early before the bar opens at 11.00am or for a drink and swim in the evening. There are deck chairs and lounge chairs to rent - some with umbrellas, others not. worth a visit even if for an after dinner cocktail- excellent margaritas!

We visited la grotta couple days ago. There was a customer notice indicating not to bring food and drinks. It means all the consumed products are to be sold by the bar. Sadly, what we experience was disgusting for the environment:

There were plastic and glass bottles among other awful trash everywhere on the sea shore. This is damaging the own beauty of the site as all the marine life in the surroundings.

As people are not allowed to bring its own things, it means that is the solely responsibility of the La Grotta Bar.

Unfortunately, we did not bring our cameras with us to take some fotos of the dirty place.

This bar is one of the responsible of the plastic issues in the Paleokastritsas area. Please, take actions and clean your own dirty.

No trip to Paleo is complete without a visit to La Grotta. Always freindly vibes, and everyones welome - couples, groups, oldies, families with kids , beach bums and ravers .. and once in La Grotta, everyone fets on. Never any hassle. Brilliant bar staff, unbeatable location, a must do.

Suburb location and an absolute must for an evening cocktail when the rocks/sea floodlit with ambient music. Much busier in the day with a livelier atmosphere, much younger crowd. However, what did let it down was the untidiness of the bar and what I imagine is a DJ area adjacent to the toilets, empty glasses/paperwork, and clutter, whilst the bar staff/manager sat scrolling their phones. Great place, little more attention to detail to make it the place I remembered from a couple of years ago.
