Refreshing

Secret place to enjoy the spring waterfall.
Be ready for a steap hill and heatwave while visiting this place.
Dip into the spring water is an amazing refresh

It's running finally!!
Nov 2019 • Friends
It's running now (09/11/19) full pool almost, lush greenery. Path/route is sign posted now and the route has wood sidelines now to guide you.

Don't bother
May 2019 • Couples
I was quite excited to be going to the falls as I have swam in other falls around the world. Trickle of water over a cliff into a muddy pool. Not worth the trouble. Give this one a miss. Lots of other beautiful sights in the Algarve

Bit of a dissapointment
Jun 2019 • Family
The drive up to Alte is a nice one. Parking at the graveyard to find the beginning of the trail is a bit weird, but okay. According to the parking lot they expect a huge amount of visitors. The trail down to the waterfall is steep but good to do. While the 'disabled people and normal' route is quite steep, I would not want to push a wheelchair up or down this path.
Arriving at the waterfall is via a meadow that looks nice. If the cafe there was actually open and not closed down years ago it would have been an nice place to do a picknick. The tables and benches have seen better times.
The waterfall itself was about to dry up and the small pool below it was dirty, fly invested and not appealing to dive into.
Maybe in other times of the year it is a better experience, in early Summer it was dissapoining.

Nice little piece of paradise.

A small natural waterfall tucked away in the mountain area of Alte near Albufeira. It is very nice to swim in but the water is freezing cold. Out of site next to the waterfall is a green where you can pick-nick and enjoy the sun.

Very close to the village and easy to get to.

Very pleasant spot, would be lovely for a picnic in the summer with children on the grassy spot kept short for such purposes.
Shame about the boarded up cafe block which is covered in graffiti and makes what could be a delight into something slightly menacing.

Beautiful landscape
Dec 2018 • Couples
We did not expect much but were positively surprised to see the beautiful landscape, so different from the touristic coast. The walk to waterfall is nicely paved and easy, the waterfall had plenty of water. We were the only ones there and could enjoy the nature. It was a nice experience!

Completely dry...
Oct 2018 • Friends
We were warned by some helpful people at the top that the waterfall was dry. But we walked down to see anyway. This waterfall probably hasn't had water for over a year as my father visited last year and it was just a puddle then. Apparently it's because a nearby large orange farm diverted the river to water the trees. Another example of big business not giving a toss about the environment and the state bending over and letting them do whatever they want.
Don't bother even visiting to see it. Hugely disappointing.
The Câmera Municipal de Loulé should act over this wanton destruction of the environment and local heritage

Great day out
Aug 2018 • Family
We visited here on a bank holiday and surprisingly it wasn’t as packed as expected- though it was busy. Bring lunch along and set yourself up for the day and enjoy the waterfall, have a swim or if you’re brave enough climb up and dive in.
There is a free car parking area at the top and it’s only a 5 minute walk down to the area. The incline on the return is pretty steep and those with walking difficulties may struggle.
Great free day out for the whole family!
