Pilli Pipa is an accredited PADI Dive Resort under the name of Firefly Ocean Camp, registration number s22994. We have up to date diving equipment which is replaced regularly. We have excellent dive gear imported and replaced regularly. Contrary to what one reviewer, Roadsmoretravelled, November/December 2013, has falsely put on a review. He did not come on our dhow but was probably told by the Shimoni hotel he stayed at that he was going with Pilli Pipa. We do not dive in 1 or 2 metres of water and we do not have shocking equipment.

If you want a wonderful diving experience with professionals, book with Harm Lutjeboer, Pilli Pipa Dhow Safari, PADI and Naui registered, dive base, Firefly Ocean Camp in Shimoni. Not based at Shimoni Reef Lodge.

We also take snorkellers to the Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park for an exciting adventure followed by lunch at Pilli Pipa on Wasini Island.

Pilli Pipa Dhow is by far the best dhow safari you can go on. Their dhows are in excellent condition and the crew well trained, knowledgeable, experienced and hospitable. After a quick intro on the dhow, you can relax and enjoy the scenery and try to spot some dolphins/turtles/jelly fish/fish while you have some coffee/tea and biscuits. Snorkeling is always... More

We had an amazing day with Pilli Pipa. The whole crew took a great care of us. On the way to snorkeling we saw 32 dolphins! But even if you are not in boats or fish, you have to go just because of the lunch! They took you to restaurant on Wasini island when crabs are served! It was best... More

Having tried some of the other Dhow trips at Diani this is the best. Punctual pick up, knowledgeable driver, excellent qualified boat crew. Plenty of dolphins sightings & great snorkelling opportunist. All equipment on board is good quality & in excellent condition. Crew are qualified divers so plenty of opportunity to dive from the boat or snorkel knowing the crew... More

What a fabulous day out. The snorkling was also brilliant. The boat and staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Lunch on the island was also really lovely. It didn't matter if you were a pro snorkeler or a beginner, everyone is catered for.

Dhow safari is quite a long day (10 hours) with only two 45 minutes snorkeling swims with the remaining time being taken up by traveling to the snorkeling spot and lunch on Wasini Island (i did not get why this island was worth visiting, quite average food, nothing special on the island, you are better off with spending this money... Hi Mazenal. We appreciate your points but we have tried the half day trip and it really doesn't work well. We do sell a half day trip but because of the trasvelling time to get to Kisite Marine Park it means that guests get back to Shimoni at about 1.30 to 1.45p.m and then have to travel back to Diani.... Completely worth it all - I had a 5 star top notch day! The drive there is a smidge long but Eddie our driver very nicely gave us info along the way which passed the time very nicely. The schlep out in the boat was choppy that morning and I was a bit nauseated even with zofran. We did see... More

The standard snorkelling trip is a full day out with pick up from your hotel (at Diani) at around 7:30, an hour or so's drive to the vicinity of Wasini Island and then another hour on the dhow to the first snorkelling/dive site. After a few hours at 2 sites there is lunch on Wasini Island before the return journey... More

Dear Steve Thank you for your comments. Our trip probably does appear to be expensive to some people but this is out of our control unfortunately. We pay US$ 20 per adult per day or US$15 per child aged 3 years and over, to Kenya Wildlife Services in Shimoni for conservation fees for a couple of hours in an area... More
