A steep decline and some hairpin bends to get here but well worth the journey. Beautiful little place with pretty colour washed houses on both sides of the water. A leisurely stroll takes you up to the castle. It really us a magical place.

It is worth climbing up to the castle if you want stunning pictures of the town and coastline. We walked up the dirt path and then came down the paved pedestrian walkway. The ruins were nothing special that we found. We swam in the bay...More

Quaint little village to visit with nice multi-coloured houses. There is a small beach and a few little restaurants. Nice and relaxed but got pretty busy when we were there!

Visited Assos three times in our two week stay in kefalonia. My advice would be to get there before 11am. Parking is easy then and we preferred parking on the right side as you go down. So beautiful and there is no there word to...More

Assos was a 'must see' location. We decided to go for lunch. It was mobbed. It is tough to get in and out of even by car, because of the numbers of people. Add in a beer delivery and it was almost impossible. Once there...More

Visited Assos on a drive to the north of Kefalonia after it was recommended by friends and the car rental company. What a beautiful little town and harbour. We stopped off for breakfast at one of the small restaurants and had a good coffee (not...More

Brief visit for breakfast at around 8am. Got one of the last carpark spaces at base of fort. Turn left at fork at top in the village. Fort walk looks lovely and wooded but we had places to be so simply stopped for breakfast as...More

We visited here as part of a coach tour. The views on the way down are spectacular and we took many good photos from the coach window. Very nice once you arrive too. We only had about 45 mins there to have a quick look...More

I believe this is the most beautiful village in the island, with a unique bay and an outstanding castle, which is huge and in a relatively good condition, offering astonishing views!

I've never seen any. The beach is shingle. Best viewed from the bar which borders the beach. The view is the real attraction, although the water is very clear and the bay is very sheltered.

Assos is a good option, the beautiful scenery and the short distance to Myrtos beach as well as to the beaches around Fiskardo is an advantage if you have a car. I could also recommend you Sami, which is very close to the... More
