Young guys killed in a conflict that was in this region brutal because of nature. The Italian army tried the impossible - to fight itself towards Toblach against digged in Austrians. yet most soldiers died from nature i.e. falling, freezing, etc.

Impressive, Somber cemetery for WWI soldiers on the road to Dobbiaco. Shaded, hilly, very well-done. Next to a mountain stream.

We reached the cemetery form the XC trail, 10,5k loop from the Dobbiaco arena. Very instructive for our 2 boys (12 and 7), being a French-American family, this is not a part of WWI history we know.
