I was here at the weekend with the lovely Ursula. This place is amazing. The weather was great which helped a lot. It’s dotted here and there with old abandoned houses and cars and a few newer holiday homes. It has the feeling of a...More

We were driving around and accross the Beara peninsula from Killarney and spent most of the day on the island. It was a busy Sunday so we had to wait 1 hour each way at the cable car but it was very much worth the...More

The island was beautiful without having any amazing landscapes (like we've seen elsewhere on Beara). It was tough hiking for a toddler, easy for an adult. Worth it for the ride, but otherwise the island was unspectacular.

Really lovely walk along the hill tops to the far end of the island and back by the road. The trip over by cable car may not be everyone's idea of fun but well worth the trip.

Ride the cable car over and walk or ride bikes around the island, watch the sound and the waters around the island to see whales!!

Dursey Island is accessed by a somewhat precarious looking cable car located at the tip of the Beara Peninsula. Should you want to cross and explore the island, keep in mind that the cable car does not operated over a couple of hours in the...More

An experience to remember We went to Dursey Island with no expectations. Rugged bleak west coast coast, stalk country side. We left OZ in the middle of winter, so the slight drop in daily temp was not a issue. The cable car, max 6 people...More

We loved taking the cable car over to dursey island! It was fun getting up close and personal with the grading sheep, as we hiked through the landscape. Fun to explore the old ruins and we even saw dolphins surfacing in the channel!
