Is interesting to see many boats or ships travelling from this canal, the canal is connecting Vesijarvea Lake to Paijanne Lake, summer time is peak and heavy traffic, there is small cafe selling coffee and icecream,so you may take a coffee break and watching those boats passing by.

Vääksy Canal Area (Vääksyn kanava) is situated in Vääksy (the main conurbation of Asikkala), only 0.5-1 kilometers from the Highway 24 between Lahti and Padasjoki. It is an ideal resting place for all motorists. This is a nice village next to a canal. Parking is bit of a problem if you don't use the parking area and accept to walk a little. It is nice to watch boats floating by with ice cream. But you will also appreciate all the design shops in the village.

Loved the setting and small shops. The tourist facilities - restaurants and hotels - could be a lot better.

We went there on foot from Tallukka Hotel. It was the first lake gateway we ever saw and its surroundins and nature are extremely picturesque.
