I will start off by stating that this should be a must on your life bucket list! Make sure to dress warmly and layer(they provide ski suits for you), for the 30 minute ski lift each way during the colder months. I have never in...More
Staying at the STF lodge in Abisko ( which is much nicer than the 3 star ranking suggests) we took the 2 km open chair lift up to the sky station at minus 29! Swaddled in the snow suits lent at the chair lift base...More

It was a bit sad we couldn't see the Aurora on this night as it was very misty, but that is what can happen in the Artic. Nice viewing platform and you could walk very freely around. The ambience of the Station was nice, very...More

Viewing the northern lights was also a challenge,...More

We drove in from Kiruna just for the evening and were lucky enough to book a spot to the Sky Station. I don't believe you can actually stay at the sky station - it opens at 9pm and closes around 1am. You also do not have to stay at the Turiststation hotel to book. I would recommend booking in advance if you can (even by a day or two) just to make sure you don't miss out as it does book up quickly. Have so much fun!

Go on their website and check out their calendar. It should show you the holiday opening times. Or do what we did and book a northern lights tour. There are two companies that run tours to suit your needs. Again go online to check them out. That way we didn't miss anything. By the way we were there late December 2017 and there was about 4 hours of sunlight between 10:00am and 2:00pm sunrise to sunset. Have fun, we did
