If you are a rich person, you can most likely arrange a helicopter ride to this place. If that is not in your budget I would recommend avoiding this place since the lift price to go up and down is about the same as hiring...More

We took the Abisko chairlift up to the Aurora Sky Station. Took about 20-30 minutes for the chairlift to get to the top and the views were spectacular. We did this in the summer time and saw people hiking up to the top too (who...More

Visitors get very good arctic cloth suitable for the cold temperature on the chairlift. The chairlift: Growing up in alpine area with skiing and winter sports I'm used to all type of lifts. However, the chairlift was really a bit 'antique' - no protection to...More

We have been up both during the summer and the winter, and hiked around the hills, both times were really nice. However, that lunch is not served after 14:00 is mentioned nowhere. And 14:01 we were refused lunch service - so we had a carrot...More

I really enjoyed the night we spent at the Aurora Sky Station, we didn't see the Northern Lights on that particular night though. We went for the gourmet meal so it was nice to go up earlier in the night before it got crowded. The...More

We have been to Abisko a few times now and we will go back but there are better places to watch the lights. It's great to go up the mountain during the day for the view and skiing, arctic onesies and boots supplied etc but...More

Near the top of Mount Nuolja, at 900m, the sky Station offered superb, though slippery, viewing positions for the Aurora display. With indoor facilities for eating and drinking it is a great place to spend an evening. I will have to visit in daylight in...More

You could hike up in the summer, but in the winter it would probably be impossible without snow shoes or skis. I have seen people hiking up the hill below the chair lift on skis.
