Depends what you are after... There are some stalls selling fruit and veg but, for the most part, it's all about tourist tat. Wooden toys and souvenirs, cheap clothes and bags of spice. Everything has to be bargained for (because, apparently, that's what tourists want) so expect to spend 5 minutes arguing about the price of a 2 dollar toy. While we were there, the only locals we saw were the stallholders and drivers - everyone else was a tourist. On the plus side - there's an ATM, a cafe and plant shop at the back that's well worth a look (even though you can't bring anything back).
If you want to see a more authentic local market head 10 minutes along the road to Baturiti

I bought some strawberries and snacks from this market. The taste of the strawberries were good. Most of the shops sell the same goods and hence there is a scope for bargaining.

Small market opposite our resort. Boring nothing much to shop. Stalls sell about the same things. Not recommended to go unless you stay near the market.

Terrible experience, they really try to rob tourists. I get that we are expected to negotiate but this goes beyond negotiation.
I was so shocked by the lady prices. I was asking her how much is this and how much is that, she kept saying we discuss later, business bla bla bla.
Then when I told her I'm done choosing, she quoted 780k IDR for 15 mangoosteen, 2 mangos, 1 set of bananas and 1 pack of Rosella tea!!!! I was so shocked by the starting price that I yelled and left her standing there, she dropped it to 200k IDR instantaneously but the harm was done and I no longer wanted to deal with her. We left and bought the same later from a fruit store for 100k IDR (without the rosella tea)!
To be avoided at all cost in my opinion.

Fresh market with a focus primarily on fruits and vegetables, as well as a few clothing shops in the back. The fruit shop is quite pleasant to visit. Because of the pressure they put on us, clothing salespeople can sometimes make us feel uneasy.

This is a big market selling the normal market produce. Stopped here for a quick look while on the way to Lake Beratan.

Fortunately I didn't bring much money with me. The most unplesant stall vendors in all of Bali but I did manage 30 minutes and a few small purchases:
Black overpants IDR50k
Watch IDR70k
Singlet IDR27k
Wooden box IDR30k
