About
The salt lake, includes a beautiful salt cover in the form of polygons, salt water puddles, salt mines in an area of 300km squared. The landscape is shiny and white, and a good place to make photos, while at night, you have the advantage of seeing milky way easily in the sky. Sometimes, the horizon gets pink in the time of sunset.

"Varzaneh is located 105km southeast of Isfahan and 240km away from Yazd." if you see this salt lake, and you want to back to Tehran, I suggest to everyone to see the salt lake Qom too.

DO NOT BE MISTAKEN. the fantastic paintings of salt ARE NATURE ITSELF.
This endless lake of salt seems to be an alien place on the moon and in the same time you are in the midst of the desert of Iran!! Go find a spot with no noise. preferably early in the morning. Camping for the night is beyond words.

A similar spectacular scenery is found near Shiraz. It'd take a great luck and a great guide to visit them both.

We felt like on another planet while walking in this dried salt lake. The landscape is very flat and the ground is covered with salt with shape of bee alveoli. On the day we were there, the wind was blowing and the sky was darken by the sand of the dunes next to the lake. It gave the atmosphere a very strange but peacefull mood. It is a very beautiful place, that deserve to be visited.

We visited the salt lake during the Varzaneh Oasis Historical Tour with our Guide Reza from TAP Persia. I can recommend this tour not only because of the wonderful nature and all the sights we visited, but also because Reza is a very good guide. It was a pleasure spending time with him. We learned a lot not only about the sights but also about the life in Iran. Most of all we were impressed by the really big salt lake and the sand dunes nearby. At first I was a bit scared, but sandboarding was real fun. We visited the salt lake in April and there was a lot of water and everything white and only salt but no mud. Walking through the salt water is fun at first, but then... take care of your legs;-)

We are so glad we didn't just book a day trip, because we had the best time at Negaar guesthouse. It's not in the Lonely Planet (yet) which makes it all the better. Home-cooked meals, knowledgable guides and a cozy atmosphere. Go there!

That's right, desert, and salt lake together! It seems to be an alien place on the moon and at the same time, you are in the midst of the desert of Iran! It's really strange in a nice way to walk barefoot.
