My sister and I went chasing waterfalls in Bohol. From Tagbilaran, we rode a jeepney going to Antequera town. The terminal of the jeep is in front of the Marcela mall, fare is P25, travel time was 30 minutes. We took habal2x from the market, fare is P15/head one way. It was a smooth 10-min ride going to the falls. The road is safe and shady so you can also walk all the way to the falls. Entrance fee is P10. The surrounding are is well maintained and clean. The waterfalls is beautiful itself and the water is cold and refreshing. There are lifeguards on duty, life vests and tire floaters. The lifeguards were helpful. Since we don't know how to swim, we asked one of them to guide us in the water for us to be able to reach the falls. He took our pictures and swam with us. We rented the big floater for P50 and gave him a tip of P150. He was all smiles and was very thankful. We did not stay long, probably two hours. We went there on a Saturday mid day and the place was not crowded. Bring your own water/food. There are no restaurants or store nearby.

Fantastic waterfall off the beaten track, which is not very well publicised. Similarly it only gets catered to on private tours so the chances of having the place to yourself are high. Undamaged also by the Earthquake last year it's possible to swim in the water (I did and even managed to reach the middle rock between the two falls) which is not that cold if you just 'go for it'. Life vests can be hired from the entry gate if you are not a strong swimmer. And the place was just a magical place to find - as so many waterfalls are often the same disappointment. If you can read a map/know how to use map applications you can get there on a motorbike, (saving you quite a bit of money) though it helps to ask the locals to confirm your on the write track as it's not at all sign posted until the very end!

Nevertheless for me along with the Tarsiers it was the best experience on Bohols mainland.

This place gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. What a beautiful, beautiful spot. I could have stayed there all day. Actually, they apparently have cottages you can stay in for 100php/night. Yep, $2.50.The guy Rico at the shop out front was a nice dude.

Mag aso fall is closed. We ask the driver in Bohol if it is open. He said he checked and its open. He charged us 3000 pesos going there and coming back to ferry terminal. But it was closed. All damaged and no one is around. We climbed down to some steps and saw the land fall also to this area. It is very dangerous to go there. Also I think the driver cheat on us. He lied to us. And he did not even offer any apology or decrease the amount he charged. He dropped us to The ferry terminal two hours before and he left.

I specifically asked the travel agency to have this place included in our itinerary since I have been reading a lot of good reviews about this place prior to us going to Bohol. Since this is usually not part of city tour we had to allot the following day along with our tourist spot just to see this place and it was worth it!!!

We we're so tempted to swim but unfortunately Mag-Aso falls was our first place to visit for that day.

For those who plan to visit this place I suggest you a lot at least half day or better yet whole day or put this as your last itinerary for the day so you can enjoy the falls.

Beautiful place for a swim - we stopped here on a tour and did go for a swim but actually you could spend half a day here with kids.

Travelling from Panglao (if you are) can take up to 90 mins depending on mode of transport.

Small entrance fee upon entry. Set amongst many trees. Quite a steep descent/ascent from parking area (exercise care). Swimming available at own risk. Lifeguard onsite throughout the day.

For the time and effort involved getting there, and considering the end result, I wouldn’t go out of my way to see these falls. If you do go, I would consider incorporating Inambacan Cave into your trip (5 minutes to the turnoff down the road).

It's not crowded by tourist, in fact there are more local than tourist! Amazed by the safety precaution that they took. there is a safe keeper there that assist us cuz the rocks are quite slippery and tourist must wear life jacket before entering the water. they even make a trip to exchange a faulty life jacket for us. Worth tto go for a dip there.. the water can get a bit strong at some point. if you have younger kids might have to be more careful when entering the water.

These are very pretty falls, although I was told that they are much changed since the 2013 earthquake. If you choose to swim in the pool, be careful. When we entered the water it was very calm and turquoise coloured, but while we were swimming it began to foam and turn brown as the speed of the water had picked up. It turned out that they had opened a dam or something upriver and the volume of water passing through changed very quickly without warning. It was a potentially dangerous situation.

In Antequera, there are a couple of signs around the center square guiding you to the Mag-Aso falls. First, you have to pay the parking fee (15 for a motorbike) and then a separate one for the entrance (possibly 40 or 50 per person).
Roughly 100 stairs lead you down to the fall and the pool. It is quite a beautiful area, well maintained and you can take a dip in the pool leading to the waterfall. It is by no means a naturally conserved area but very man-made.
We were just coming from the most incredible Inambacan falls, which we had to ourselves and had no entry to pay, so were a bit disappointed by the Mag-Aso falls.
My recommendation: go first to the Mag-Aso falls for a swim in the pool and then relax in the Inambacan falls.
