After this dreadful year a holiday was needed, but where, and actually more like where is possible turned our attention to Corfu with one simple set of needs: OK hotel, clean beach, clear sea and places to walk to from the beach for lunch. Kalami turned up and met all requirements.
We stayed at the San Antonio hotel and preferred the beach to the pool. The beach has open areas and a few that are laid out with beds and umbrellas associated with either the Sea Breeze bar (part of the San Antonio hotel), the Kalami Beach Taverna and Thomas's Place. The taverna was our choice, two beach beds €9 per day with service on the beach for drinks all day and we could leave stuff on the beds while lunching in the taverna itself.
The beach is very pebbly and some will prefer those ugly rubber beach sock things, the water is clear and warm, the depth drops away pretty quickly and it is calm very swimming. I would prefer markers in the water demarcating swimming from boating but not because of the traffic or larger yachts, but to help guide the boat renters using the jetty right at this point (most of who seem inexperienced with their boat handling skills!).

This is a beautiful beach off the beaten track €3 parking fee and €9 for 4 beds and tables. The sea is calm warm and crystal clear. We had lunch in the larger taverna Kalami Beach Taberna and it was lovely kids had chunky chips, salad and Greek mezze washed down with a welcoming ice cold Mythos.
If you’re a fan of the Durrells the White House is further along the bay.
Take water shoes as it’s pebbly.

We took a boat from George to Corfu town for the day from kalami day. Picked us up from jetty at 10am dropped us back at 3pm. George was polite, fun and prompt. Cost 25 euros each arranged by guy in hut behind Thomas place restaurant. Really good to see Corfu old town and harbour, lots of cobbles streets and plenty of shops and restaurants. Well worth going and lot less hassle than driving

It is impossible to walk on this beach. Even with shoes on, it is so difficult. There are sunbeds which cost 5e each and you need one to survive. The water is clean and there is a nice bar to visit but if you want a better beach, skip Corfu all together

Had 8 days here staying at the wonderful San Antonio (adults only) Resort. We made the most of all the tavernas along the bay; simply put anywhere you eat you won’t be disappointed. This bag is a beautiful quiet spot and as it’s not on the main road it tends to stay quiet; for the first four days of our holiday we were often the only ones there. Comfortable loungers + parasols for hire at reasonable price for the whole day. Very calm water and safe for families. Several jetties along the bay where you could jump/dive off as it was deep enough. Relaxing, quiet spot where the most tiring thing to do was watch the boats coming in and out of the bay! Some lovely guys were hiring out motorboats (their table was right next to Sea Breeze Beach Bar); we took one out for a day to explore some other swim spots along the coast. A really fabulous spot in Corfu! We will certainly be going back!

We stayed at the San Atonio resort overlooking Kalami and it is simply beautiful. The beach is clean, the water is crystal clear and so calm. I would go as far as saying this place is simply idyllic. Cannot wait to return in the future.

Easily missed if you visit Boukari/Petri briefly; I would caution you to stay a little longer to take some time to relax at the waterside to enjoy friendly Greek hospitality. Your experience whether just having a coffee, drink or meal will be luxurious with the smallest amount of punishment to your pocket. Staff are attentive, courteous and helpful. The good delicious. Next time I am in Corfu one night will again will be spent at the Kalami

I would love to say. If you are thinking about having a relaxed hassle free holiday kalami is the one for you San Antonio is a beautiful clean and relaxing apartment. The staff there can not do enough for you. The sea breeze beach bar do beautiful food all day and right on the beach. If you do not want to get up well dont. Daniel is a lovely man that will tend to you.
Thomas place is ran by Thomas and his family helped bay staff. The food again is beautiful and if you want something in particular they will try and adear to your need. They also do boat transfers to the next bay for a bit of a change. They pick you up and wait and when you are ready bring yo back to your bay.
Do you want to relax then this is for you.

Great location right on the beach. Good choice on menu with good service. Right next to Sea Breeze restaurant.
Best book if in high season especially if you want a sea front table.

What a beautiful setting fabulous clear water beautiful sheltered bay with clear clean waters. Suitable for those who like snorkelling. We toured around the Northern part of the island and this was
one of the prettiest spots. Little boats coming in and out , a numbers of good tavernas and beach bars for food at lunch and dinner . Very safe plenty of sun beds at 9 euros fir the set.

Is there any sand on the beach? Travelling with young children, so wondering whether or not to pack buckets and spades.

No sand but it is a nice beach for kids as long as they have water shoes. Mind built towers of pebbles and some children had been decorating pebbles and leaving them for others to find.

Hi I believe the kayaks and paddle boards are €12 an hour. There aren’t any jet skis yet but a water sports place was just setting up last week when I left

We are thinking of Kalami in Corfu for our summer holidays for 10 day in July/early August 2017. We have been to many Greek islands and mainland for our hols and love it! We are two families with 5 kids of 12, 13 and 17. We all like a mixture of relaxing and being active. The kids prefer the pool whereas the adults prefer the sea. We need umbrellas (being pale Irish!). We like to have some fun maybe water sports or water park or river rafting. We will hire cars to drive around the island and explore. Any suggestions for accommodation and things to do and see would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Do look at the White House for villa hire check out thewhitehouse in gr
We hired a boat - and would recommend doing this as its great fun (we hire it over 3 days but spread over the week, so one day with and one day without) Kalami is quiet but it is beautiful - our 13 & 14 yr olds enjoy it. We spend a week here, then a week in Roda search bluegardenscorfu in Roda, which is North Corfu.
Hope you enjoy it, Corfu is a lovely island - and where the real Durrells lived, as well as where the TV programme is now filmed!

Do you need to wear beach shoes when swimming due to sea urchins?

No we did not wear sea shoes due to sea urchins - but we did agree sea shoes would be a very good idea due to the pebbles and stones hurting your feet!
