This is a lovely and accessible retreat in the city where you can walk or kayak. Years ago you could swim there, but you don't see that these days. I nice place for a family gathering.

I wanted to go for a quick hike while on a break from a conference at Macquarie University. This NP was just the ticket! I walked from campus to the Great North Walk Trail (which goes through the NP) in just 10-15 minutes. Lovely hike!

We enjoyed looking around this National Park - but like so many others in the area - one day was enough. Great to have nature in a city environment

We live not far the park and we often have gatherings of friends for picnic, sometimes for BBQ. You can book/ reserve a site of your liking and size. The park offers beautiful surroundings of bush, flora and some fauna. You can also go for...More

This took me 4 hours with all the diversions you can do but take water. It is relatively easy and well signposted(apart from the creek crossing needed at the top end ,and the blue hole).I preferred the top half where noone goes.Much more interesting. You can get...More

I strolled and took photos. Others walked, jogged, ran and cycled. Other folks even drove. Full blown nature 10km from Sydney CBD. Awesome. The tourist park is brilliant place for all sorts of accommodation.

I've been coming here with my children for years and love the birdlife in the bush as well as the rock formations and waterfalls.

If you really want to get yourself lost in nature this is the best place. It's less explored and hence I find it more beautiful.

Another great day located in the heart of Sydney. Parking is abundant as are the many walk trails and picnic spots. Take a hat and camera and enjoy the day.

Camping in Sydney's Parks (4 Replies)
First of all, Happy New Year to all of you. I have recently moved to Sydney and planning to do some camping. A friend of mine told me about two National Parks in Sydney, i.e., Ponds Creek in Dundas Valley and Lane Cove National Park near Marsfield. I am interested to inquire if camping is allowed in these Parks? Any recommendations and precautions.

Lane cove has a campground I don't think you'd want to camp at Ponds Creek Look at the national parks website for lots of good options Try the Royal and Kuringai for other options and don't forget Blue Mountains
