Fairy Tale Horse Ride-I booked this for my 7 year old son, it was just us and we were picked up from Design Hotel in Levi in a private car with driver.
When we got to the stable (about a 5 mins drive) we were met by a lovely lady but I’ve sadly forgotten her name- who was really welcoming and kind. We were the only ones doing the fairy tale trek. My son had full ski gear on but she also put on an extra wool jumper on his to make sure we was warm on the pony. In the stable she spoke to my son about the stable elf that she had caught getting up to mischief and told the story of what happened. It was so so lovely and authentic and then as we went round through ‘the magic gate’ in the snowy forest there were more little surprises which I won’t spoil in the review. The horse ‘Gurpur’ was very gentle and I led him through the trail with no issue. My son thoroughly enjoyed the trip and loves the little gift he received. It was very magical and worlds apart from ‘manufactured Christmas’. If I had time I would have liked to have rode myself on one of the other trips they do, so will have to save that for next time. Highly recommend this for young children, I would say 7/8 is max age and would be gorgeous for 4 or 5 year olds. Such a genuinely kind tour guide that made our visit to Lapland very special x

My wife and I booked the 2-hour horse riding session for beginners at the beginning of September 2024. This was an awesome experience for both of us. The facility was nice and clean. The Icelandic horses were well cared for and well trained. Our guide/trainer was very experienced, very kind, and professional. Safety instructions and safety gear were given to all the riders of the group, which I believe is very important. We were taken around the local forest through different types of terrain which made it quite nice. As my wife and I are both inexperienced riders this was a great experience to ride horses again after some years of not riding. On our next trip to Kittilä, FIN we will be returning to the Lapin Saaga Icelandic Horse Stable for more lessons.

Magical experience! Our 8 year old daughter and 6 year old son thoroughly enjoyed the whole adventure from start to finish! The guide was amazing, capturing the kids imagination with the stable elf story & introduction, being so patient getting many kids of varying or no horse riding experience set up and making the whole thing fun!

Weaving in and around snow covered trees on beautiful Icelandic horses was a dream come true for our daughter and even though our son isn't into horses as much, the elf adventure, amazing scenery and fun guide captured his heart. Two happy kids, great scenery and lovely Icelandic horses, equals two happy parents, hehe.

An added bonus and I wish I could give these guys 6 stars, later in the day my son lost his present so I contacted Lapin Saaga to see if I could purchase a replacement. Not only did they immediately arrange it but we were staying at NLV approx 20 mins away, so I'd have to get back to collect it and wasn't sure how I'd do it without a hire car or easy transport. To our surprise, Lapin Saaga arranged for it to be dropped off at NLV by the resort bus driver who tracked me down at breakfast and hand delivered the present! Amazing thoughtful customer service that just added to an already wonderful Lapin Saaga experience and an extremely happy and grateful 6 year old boy!

Highly recommended :)

The small farm is really super sweet and loving. The staff is amazing. Our guide was Iina and she is totally warm and tells you a lot about the area, the horses and actually everything you want to know. She also took extra time and gave tips for any further excursions.
It was a very nice and quiet 2h tour.
It should also be noted that the horses are very sweet.

We did 2 different trips to Lapin Saaga on 2 different days during our stay in Levi. One was great and the other dreadful

The first being the Reindeer ride which I’d checked before hand how far / long the ride was meant to be and was told between 15-40 minutes depending on how fast the reindeer went. The ride was over in about 5 minutes and included being tipped sideways into the snow by a reindeer. Who was not happy with its halter / bridle during the ride and so when trying to shake its head strayed from the path and the sleigh tipped onto its side. The experience finished with trying to lassoo a dummy reindeer followed by warm berry juice and cookies in the owners house. Really really wouldn’t recommend wasting your time or money (€180 for the four of us) on this activity, Far better to do a simple trip for far less money with another provider. The owner was very friendly though.

The other experience was the fairytale horse ride which was worlds apart in terms of how it ran. A different staff member, who was so friendly and engaging. The children loved the ride and their time on the horses, the stories and the special little activities. It was the same price for this activity at €45 each, but adults are free.

Out of the two experiences the fairytale horse ride was by far the better experience.

We were very excited to book the fairy tale trek after reading so many positive review.

We loved the opportunity to be with the gentle horses and my daughter will remember this experience forever.

However it was -16 degrees today and we felt that the staff member was panicked and overwhelmed by this. This was surprising as I thought this was a regular occurrence in December.

Getting the children onto their horses took over 20 minutes resulting in other people’s children becoming so cold and upset before even setting off. The horses were not prepared and the trek leader seemed to struggle to decide which child should be on each horse- we stood for at least 5 minutes with her changing her mind. I think she needed some help getting all 6 children mounted and comfortable.

She was obviously very caring then deciding to go back to get blankets which resulted in further waits. Even I became a cold from standing still for so long unnecessarily.

The trek was then very rushed with screaming children. My daughter was engaged and loving the experience but unfortunately couldn’t follow the story being told as it all became a bit manic as the leader struggled to make a decision about what to do with the upset children. My children were the only ones that continued to the end as the other families decided to turn back. We were lucky to be at the front, those at the back would have had even less idea what was going on!

There were nice touches with the children receiving a small gonk decoration in a lit up tipi. The forest was beautiful. However my children were confused by the ‘pretend Santa’ running around as the story hadn’t really been explained.

At the end we were told to wait in the office area but nobody returned so we just left.

As a horse lover myself, having the opportunity to be close to the animals was amazing. The experience however was otherwise disappointing.

We did the fairytale ride and it was the most wholesome and magical experience of our holiday. My children adored the tale told on the way round and the effort put into telling it was exceptional. This is a must for anyone wanting to do something special with their little ones. This will stay with us forever. Thank you ❤️

Booked the 1hr ride for two people. With us was another couple of two people. I didn’t have to worry about the ride at all, guide was extremely helpful and made sure everyone was comfortable and ready to ride before we took off. The horses were calm and good tempered, perfect for beginners / people with no previous riding experience. They’re taught to follow each other so the rider doesn’t have to do much work.

The route was lovely, quiet and peaceful through the snowy forests. Because of our small group size, the whole experience seemed even better as the guide had more time for each of us. The guide shared all sorts of information about the business, their horses, the general area… The guide even took pictures of us while we were on the trail!

After the ride we had plenty of time to cuddle with the horses and take pictures. We also had more time to talk with the guide and ask questions. They seemed welcoming and genuinely happy to educate us about horses and riding.

Worth every penny, and reasonably priced to begin with. Location was easy to find, not too far away from the Levi ski centre. Enough parking space on the property. A chance to use the bathroom if needed. A small gift shop you can check out after the ride.

What a wonderful experience. Despite my fear of horses, I really enjoyed this. The guidance took very good account of the fact that I had some fear and after fifteen minutes I felt really comfortable on the horse and I was able to fully enjoy the beautiful 2-hour tour. Highly recommended, even for beginners! After the tour, the guide will take plenty of time to take photos. The pick-up service from Levi center was very easy.
