Tourist attraction “Mitad del Mundo” is amazing because we can know about the history and more information about this city. Is a tract of land owned by the prefecture of the province of Pichincha. The grounds contain the Monument to the Equator, which highlights the exact location of the Equator (from which the country takes its name) and commemorates the... More

The main monument in the center houses a museum and the view from the top is awesome. The place is a cultural showcase with beautiful benches with bird sculptures and single-storied yellow buildings with shops that sell colorful local items. We were lucky to catch a dance performance which was so nice... we wanted to join in as the beats... More

Quito, city of charm Quito is the capital of Ecuador. It is very big and the whole city and the metropolitan district are between the Contemporary and colonial styles, a beautiful tourist attraction that falls in love. Very nice atmosphere and the city filled with beautiful places. I love visiting the hill of the virgin of El Panecillo, it is... More

While there is some contention about the exact location of the equator, this park has not only the equator location determined by the French expeditions in mid 1800s and early 1900s but also interesting science displays about the equator, exhibits of indigenous cultures, a great diorama of the central city of Quito, and an exhibit of works by the premier... If I had to do it again, I would probably skip this park but its almost a must-do if you are in the area. The main thing to do is to take pictures at the middle of the world monument and equator 'line' which, as it turns out, is not the actual one as per gps. Makes for a good... More

We visited this site before the Intinan Museum thinking that this was the Equator. This was the calculated site. Intinan was located by GPS. However, it was a memorable visit. We went up the tower and enjoyed the scenery. Still a good tour to take.

Just the thought of being at the exact centre of our planet is a treat. Remember to bring your passport. Apparently you can get a special stamp once you visit the place but unfortunately I only found out after I left.
