We took a motor boat from udipi to this island. Normally, they insist that you take the return boat in 1 - 2 hours. But, you can request for some more time. Please do not get attracted to the water and attempt to snorkel here. There are rocks all over. You can find a lot of sea shells and very... More

Lovely patch of unspoiled beauty. It is very convenient to take the boats from Malpe beach. The trips start from 8:30 AM and they charge 300 Rs per head. The boat has a capacity of 24 but they will even make the trip at half capacity. The crystal clear water and the volcanic rocks on the island are a highlight.

This is a small island and you can spend either a couple of hours or a whole day here. Mostly clean beaches, fantastic rock formations and warm waters surrounding it...what more can one ask! Take a walk around the island. Even though it does get a bit crowded, you can eke out some solitude. The ferry ride to & from... More

What a beach! Serene, peaceful and divine. You need to get into a ferry from Malpe fish yard. They charge Rs. 200 per adult. It will just over an hour to reach closer by to the island. They will port you to a smaller boat from about 500 m from the shore, which will take about 5 min to reach.... More

The pace is worth a visit...the boat trip, the clear water and wonderful rock formations. Dont forget to carry a bottle of water with you...

Cleanest sea water so far I have found on either side of the Indian peninsular land. About 6 km into the sea off the Malpe beach at Udupi, this island offers a good view all around, clean water (not for tasting) to play in, relatively safe distance to get into the water and a picturesque location- all make it an... One needs to take a ferry from the Maple harbor to visit this place. There are buses from Udupi to Malpe. Try to go early in the morning before the sun turns harsh. There are decent queues on the long weekends. Once you get the ticket, it takes about 20 mins to travel to the island. One can spend around... More

This extremely beautiful island is one of the most underrated place of India. I personally feel it should be included in the Indian Tourism Ads. It is one of the four places in the entire world with these formation which includes Gaint's Causeway Ireland. Also Vasco da Gama first landed here on his journey from Portugal. We got a ourselves...
