I planned my entire Laos trip around this and I was sooo looking forward to it, it didn’t disappoint, it was amazing!! It was my first time ziplining and I couldn’t get enough :) the views of the rainforest are unreal, specially on the long lines. Our group of 8 was staying in treehouse 1, it was big and comfy and bear in mind you are in the jungle so yes, you will see big spiders, I am terrified of them and I survived. We had two guides, Vong and Nengva, Vong was great!! He made the experience truly unforgettable, he spoke great English and he showed us a lot of interesting plants around with medicinal uses, he made sure that everybody knew what they were doing on the ziplines and took care of us, we also had so much fun playing cards and eating together. The food is so good, you would not expect that at the jungle. Nengva spoke very limited English but took great care of us during the trekking and the ziplines, also is such a fun sight when he ziplines into the treehouse with the hot kettle in his hand. We didnt hear or see the gibbons on the first morning so a few of us went to zipline when others chose to sleep a bit more, on morning two we heard them singing from the treehouse and Vong followed the sounds with us trying to keep up behind, we could not see them but we heard them sing loud and clear, we were so close, it was so incredible to think they were above our heads. There was a big storm last year and a lot of ziplines cannot operate because trees fell, also some of the treehouses, so it’s a bit of a reconstruction process now. If you can choose I would recommend you ask them to stay in treehouse 1 because it’s the most likely to see Gibbons and also if you are not on the fit side because the trek is not as long. Overall amazing experience and totally recommend it, I would move into the treehouse tomorrow if I could!

Whether you see gibbons or not (we didn't unfortunately), the gibbon experience is worth visiting as the zip lines and treehouses are both wonderful. We did the classic experience and we heard gibbons on one of the mornings singing loudly for about an hour. It's hard to explain until you hear it but it is quite the concert! The trekking isn't too difficult in the classic, there's a lot of up and down but never for too long until you reach another zip line or tree house. It's very well organised and the guides work hard to ensure everyone is looked after. My only negative would be that we took advice from the website which said if you are coming from Luang Namtha you can stay in a charming homestay the night before. I would advise against this, as we were expecting an authentic homestay where we could get to know the family and eat together but this was not the case. It is simply a mattress on a floor in someone's home with basic amenities and food. This also meant we were picked up half way on the morning of the Gibbon experience and we missed the brief and safety talk, which no body caught us up on. We were left feeling as though we didn't know what was happening and had paid quite a bit of money for the homestay but I would personally have preferred to stay in the town by the gibbon experience office for a cheaper price. Overall, a really great experience and worth the money if you are in Laos!!

Biggest highlight of Laos so far, this is a MUST do! For someone who’s barely trekked before this was an extreme workout! If you’re unfit like myself this will no doubt be a test but be assured it will be one of the most amazing experiences in the world. The scenery is fantastic and once you’re on those zip-lines you’ll feel like Tarzan. We chose the classic experience that gives you a two night stay. It was amazing waking up to the sounds of the jungle. All the tree houses are fantastic but if you get the option choose tree house one, it’s the biggest & was built by our tour guide D-one, he was awesome and made the experience with all of the information he could provide!

Did we see gibbons? Yup, twice, two separate families in tree house 1 & 7 (Classic Tour). Always keep an eye out!

For the ones thinking about doing the Gibbon Experience; do it, it's amazing. BUT watch out for foodpoisoning, in our group 6 out of 8 got it and we know other groups who had the same problem. We went back to the office and they seemed uninterested and there was no apology at all, same for the other group. Really disappointing if you look at the price you pay for it, just a warning so it wont ruin your experience!! So just avoid the meat and stay in treehouse 7 (best chance of seeing and hearing the gibbons) :)

Hello, Food is cooked just before serving and everyone has the same menu. Meat is fresh and fully cooked. Over more than 20 years, we never had cases of food poisoning. Despite all precautions, if you have been victim of food poisoning, we are sincerely sorry. However, it is possible that you were victim of viral or bacterial gastroenteritis.

Did 2 day express trip. It was amazing! The staff were are great! Our guides were both friendly, knowledgeable and very safety conscious. Zip-lines are extremely fun and the views from the treehouse was stunning! As to be expected with the short trip we didn't see any wild life. It was very expensive, but I know that my money is going to a good cause so I don't mind spending that much.
I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes a little adventure!

Paid €610 for two people for a two night waterfall trek. Having done some trekking in Asia already was wandering what is so special about this one to justify a very high price in comparison. So was patient and waited...
First and last day are mainly transport to and from Huay Xai with some jungle trekking.
The rainforest is absolutely amazing.
The tree houses were great! Pretty spectacular experience.
Zip lining was awesome and pretty safe (I’m scared of heights and felt ok )
The food served was delicious, but don’t expect a snack or a coffee throughout the day (until you settle in the treehouse). On the second day we stopped at the waterfall and had lunch (the kitchen was nearby). We were there for two hours, however I wished they offered coffee or tea after lunch as was definitely needed. Instead, after a swim and lunch we hang there for further 45 minutes, not entirely sure why.
Seems that some guides speak better English than others. Our two guides spoke very very basic English, and sometimes it was a struggle to communicate. However, both were nice and helpful.
The gibbon experience claims to be a conservation project of some sort. Unfortunately we didn’t learn anything about what they do. The guides were not able to explain. And the whole trek did not indicate anything either. On top of that, their base is in a village covered in rubbish (never seen anything like this).
If I saw where the money goes ie educating the villages on the effects of pollution, what they do to conserve gibbons (that we didn’t see), teaching the guides better English I probably wouldn’t be so negative about the whole thing.

We undertook the three day waterfall experience with our nine year old son. We all had tremendous fun over the three days. Travelling via zipwires was exhilarating and the views over the forest and countryside were tremendous. It was refreshing to swim in the pool at the foot of the waterfalls. The pacing and mixture of trekking and zip lines was just right.
As vegetarians, we ate well and it was an unusual experience to have breakfast zipwired in to us. The treehouses were comfortable with amazing views from the bathrooms. We really appreciated the care the guides took with our son. He was too light for some of the longer zipwires so they took him. He loved flying with Pisa in particular. We all loved the experience and were sad when it came to an end.

It was a bit physically demanding for me, having to hike and do monkey climbing when i fail to zipline myself all the way to the other side (which happens all the time for me).

but still i highly recommend it as it is really a once in a lifetime experience. It was lucky for me to spot gibbons two days in a row, but even if you dont see gibbons, it will still be worthwhile going as you get to live in treehouses, doing unlimited ziplines and appreciate the beauty of nature. it is an ideal detox trip given that there is no phone reception in the jungles, and it is an experience that i would never ever forget.

We had a great time ziplining in the jungle and observing gibbons and other animals. The view from the tree house was just amazing and the food was excellent. Our guides were very helpful and friendly. I couldn't have asked for more. Big thanks to the Gibbon Experience team for making this possible!

This experience was everything we were hoping for and more.

Amazing ziplines, the views are unreal and so many different ones.

The guides were brilliant and went beyond the call of duty to help us. Really good English and just so helpful and kind!

The food was ok, they could pay more attention to food allergies and dietary requirements though.

The treehouses are unreal. You have to keep reminding yourself you are in a tree, in a jungle, so high up. It is mind-blowing.

We did see gibbons on both mornings we were here. We were in tree house number 7.

I know it's a lot of money but for the experience it is so worth it!

For people leaving poor reviews. It is a jungle. You are going to have to trek. You are not going to get amazing food. It is not about comfort, it is about the experience. Please bear this is mind...
