Lovely old quarters built during the Ottoman Empire, which left a lasting legacy in the Balkans during its 500 years rule. The current bazaar was rebuilt from scratch after it was burnt down by Serbian forces in 1999 after the expulsion of most Albanian population during the NATO bombing of Serbia. Rebuilding it is hopefully the start of healing the scars of war and reconciliation.

Old Bazaar of Peja is a great place to explore. Many shops of gold, silver, toys, wedding dresses, restaurants, cafes and an old mosque. Had a nice walk.

The Bazaar of Peć is located in the center of the city located it is a remnant of the Ottoman rule there. The earliest mention of the Bazaar of Peć according to some sources is around the 14th century.
The Bazaar of Peć has mainly an Ottoman architecture on the buildings, which mainly serve as stores today.
The Bazaar of Peć was completely destroyed in 1999 war, it was fully rebuilt (after the 1999 war) and still keeps the Ottoman architecture.
It is a lively market, with many types of shops and handicrafts, full of sights, sounds and smells. definitely a place to stop and admire for half a day. Prices so much cheaper than we are accustomed to. Local people wanted to chat, in (english), very friendly.

Amazing city, amazing people, amazing nature, and most of all amazing food.
There are a loot of good things to say about Peja,
especially the old bazaar.
Full of life, clothes, stores, restaurants, cafés, gypsy musicians, history, culture.
My visit was really good, the albanians are amazing.

Peja's old bazaar. It is a large section of town built during the Ottoman period. The shops are small and the streets are narrow. Architecturally speaking, the place is nothing special. But what makes it different from the other bazaars and somewhat interesting is that the shops in there are ordinary shops serving the locals with shoes, jewelry, clothing, housewares, etc., rather than selling souvenirs or gift items.

All new but very well reconstructed. Quiet and clean. Nice visit. No tourist shop but typical clothes are sold here.

Dont expect Istanbul Grand Bazaar type of scene.
Peja bazaar is more similar to the street markets you will find in Asia - selling an assortment of "branded" clothing, bags, floor mats, jewelry.
No souvenirs could be found.
