I don’t know if we just happened to get lucky with everyone we came into contact with when planning our trip with BNA, or if everyone in the Balkans is this pleasant, but instantly we felt like we were planning a trip with friends. Initially we went into the tourist office in Pejë to ask a few questions, and without being pushy or selling their own tours, they gave us honest advice and leaflets about the things to do in the area with the current season. All the staff were very cheerful and helpful, and were able to answer all the questions we had.
We ended up booking a Via Ferrata guided tour (at a brilliant price) and we were not disappointed. We met our guide Arianit in the morning and he drove us to the spot where we would do the activity. Instantly he was friendly, talkative and professional. It didn’t just feel like a guide taking you out because it was his job. It felt like someone who really knew about the area, about the culture, and about the history was taking you out for a really great time. His light hearted and easy going manner made it easy to relax and get rid of any fears we had about our first via ferrata.
I want to thank the whole team for their assistance and I would definitely recommend this company for any outdoor activity in Kosovo!

We completed a ten day hike of the Peaks of the Balkans with BNA and can’t recommend them highly enough. The trip was very well organised from start to finish, accommodation along the route was organised well in advance and we were met at the end of of each day with great hospitality and some truly wonderful local food! Our guides Mentor and Donika were exceptional, Mentor has a great knowledge of the mountains, the flora and fauna and the history of the region which we really appreciated and which added greatly to the trip. It was clear that they both have a great passion for the region and have built great relationships with the people along the route. It was such a pleasure to be able to trek through this stunning landscape and to criss cross borders old and new. Thank you and we will definitely be back again!

We booked a guided 8 day hike with Balkan Natural Adventure in June 2022 and we’re really happy we did so! The contact about departure date and itinerary with Anila and Virtyt was easy and they were very helpful and flexible.

We met our guide Gezim the day before departure on the campsite we were on. Immediately we had a very good feeling, he was friendly, helpful and funny. We hiked a total of 8 days through mostly great weather. Gezim knew the area very well, we followed the official path almost all the time but also deviated for a more beautiful side tour or if the official road was blocked (e.g. because of snow). Gezim is a very easy guy to connect with, he is happy to share stories or have serious conversations but is also fijne with being quite. It almost felt like hiking with a friend instead of with a guide and it was hard to say goodbye in the end.

We would recommend Balkan Natural Adventure without a doubt and would also not hesitate to recommend Gezim as a guide! He is the best!

Let me start by stating I have travelled and adventured in 60 countries worldwide. I have experienced tour groups all over the world. This outfit, Balkan Natural Adventure, was the worst of all of them to hike Peaks of the Balkans. I truly regret choosing to go with this company. As an english speaking female hiker I was lied to, ignored, and was made to feel like I was on another planet when I had to agued to HIKE the full length of the trails as opposed to getting transferred - a family of four were not hikers and complained the entire time every time we hiked. Right at the start they had no accommodation for me on the first night. They told me it was because it was high season and everything was sold out. The other members of the group had a five star hotel booked for them already. Alina in the office asked me if I wanted to spend the night in a hostel across from the visitors centre with no air conditioning. I then had to write a formal email explaining that I would be treated like the other members of the group. There was no information given regarding plans for any days or nights. The guides Mentor and Donica spoke Albanian the entire time which left me clueless as to what was going on or happening. When asked by a hiker at a guesthouse that was not part of our group if they spoke english, Donica told him "yes, only english all of the time." I couldn't believe how many lies were told by this company.

When I complained to head office by email during the trip (yes, in order to be heard I had to write emails to their bosses) that we did not get lunch as stated in the itinerary, Mentor the guide sat me down and told me blank face that I was lying. On on e of the days the itinerary says that we hike to the Blue Eye in Theth. I had to tell Mentor I would go on my own because he said it was not in the itinerary. WHAT?!? He begrudgingly went with me and "let" me spend 10 minutes there. I would have much preferred to do it on my own as he was rude the entire way. The transfer to and from the start/end points is on one of the most dangerous roads I've ever been on and when I started crying and said I was scared Mentor laughed at me. I had to actually use a firm voice and tell him it was not funny.

This was honestly the worst group adventure I have ever been a part of. Please consider other options - the trail is very user friendly, well marked, and many guesthouses along the way to do by yourself or with a friend. Had I known this, I would have not booked a tour and went solo.

Dear client
We are sorry we did not meet your expectations. We have seen that they are rarely met. Four out of five reviews you have given to different companies in Tripadvisor are one star. We have done our best to provide you with a good experience. In this regard we have provided: Lent you a hiking bag for free (you had no hiking bag, strange for a person who traveled to 60 countries) Offered you a free Via Ferrata trip Offered you a free Zipline trip Offered you a private tour and private guide on demand. Offered you an extra dinner. You have been part of a group of 5. In this small group, we have included a second guide, a woman just to make sure that you as a single woman traveler will have company. You had two stretches of the hike, as a private tour separate from the rest of the group. We would have gone not one but five extra miles in order to have satisfied clients, which is our policy. Unfortunately, we have not achieved this in your case. We are very sorry. May peace be with you!

Can't recommend these guys higher.

We went on a guided tour on the Peaks of Balkans trail and although we were the first group of tourists coming there this year and also facing some challenges regarding the weather, Balkan Nature Adventure took great care of us. Mentor, our guide, was very kind, shared a lot of knowledge and also made sure we stayed safe and on the trail at all time.

All accommodations they picked were, while of course being very basic sometimes, very clean, friendly and welcoming. And you could see, that they really care about that.

The tour itself was thoughtfully prepared, while our guide at the same time was able to quickly adapt to weather and our needs.

I would highly recommend going on the Peaks of the Balkans trail with them. It was a unique experience I wouldn't want to miss.

I went on the September 2021 open group Peaks of the Balkans trek with Gzim and Donika (and 11 new friends!). It was one of the best trips I have ever been on and I'm so glad that I decided to go with the group. Everything was smooth, from my first correspondence (which was actually pre-covid!), throughout planning, and until the end of the trek. They were always very quick to respond and helped me find valuable information that I could not find on my own to help plan my trip. I was picked up from Tirana on time, and once the group was together we began the trek. The whole trip was very well planned to include beautiful sections that were not the official trail and transport arranged for sections of the trail that did not offer much. The hiking was challenging but I felt very comfortable with the amount of breaks and we always arrived at the next village with enough time to shower, decompress, and have a well-deserved meal. The guides were extremely knowledgable about the area and it is very evident they take pride in their work, country, and the beautiful natural areas that we passed through. At the end of the trek I was ready to do the whole thing again! The guesthouses were basic but very accommodating and comfortable. I learned so much about the history, culture, and natural resources in the area. September was a great time to visit and do this trek, the mountains are covered in blueberries and the weather was perfect for hiking.

I cannot recommend this company enough - I will always refer them to anyone I know that is interested in visiting the Balkans. I hope to go back one day to explore this beautiful area and will definitely be contacting B N Adventure to help me plan a trip.

I had a fantastic experience with BN Adventures, who organised a 7-day self-guided tour for me. From helping me customise the itinerary, to ensuring I had all the information and insights I needed in advance, to providing support and answers along the way where requested - they were phenomenal. I would thouroughly recommend this format and this agency to anyone!

We did a self guided 6 day peaks of the Balkans trip with BNA. BNA were fantastic! They organised this with 2-3 weeks notice for us and also helped to customize this to our needs. The accommodation was simple, but clean and comfortable and gave a real feel of each of the areas we stay with home cooked food. The route was stunning and challenging. We had GPS notes, pdf maps and route notes which were sufficient with our iPhones to navigate ourselves along the way. The transfer were using locals and these worked very effectively between the places as long as you clearly confirmed the pick up times, place and person. All in all, I would highly recommend BNA for couples looking at either self-guided or guided trips with a moderate level of hiking experience. These guys will make sure you get from A to B easily and enjoy the beautiful scenery and people along the way. Thanks again BNA!

My son and I just completed the “10 Days self-guided Peaks of the Balkans tour” (which includes 9 days walking) from Balkan Natural Adventure (BNA). Some of the walks were on the "official" Peaks of the Balkans Trail, some were not, and all were excellent. Our two favourites were climbing Gjeravica, the highest Peak in Kosovo, from Doberdol and the walk to Taljanka from Grbaja Valley (neither of which are "official").

The GPX tracks BNA provided for our self-guiding were good. BNA were a delight to deal with throughout; always responsive, friendly and helpful. I would be very pleased to visit the Balkans with BNA again and am happy to recommend them.

(PS: our last day of walking was from Vusanje – Theth. We arranged a transfer from Vusanje village up the first part of the route along a 4WD track (approx 5km), and BNA arranged our collection from Bar Cafe Taxi Kroni, thus saving a further 5km or so along another 4WD track into Theth. I strongly recommend doing this as the 4WD sections are not very interesting while the remaining 12.7km with 740m of ascent "in the middle" is stunning. And quite demanding enough for a 9th consecutive day of walking!)

#Hiking the Balkans Trail
Gezim Murati was an excellent guide who became a friend by the end of the week.
I really enjoyed talking to him and how he lead our group so well.
He was very knowledgeable. Telling us tales about the mountains and things about Albania and helping us learn some Albanian and Kosovo phrases.
I liked how he drew alongside each person in our group and chatted with them and how he connected with each of us in different ways.
In the early morning before the others were awake, I awoke early and there was Gezim who would make me a delicious coffee. I loved those quiet starts at each day.
I felt safe with his as he guided us through the passes.

Albi Koqani, who is the number 1 climber in Kosovo was a great assistant to Gezim.
I loved chatting with him. He and I even sang some Nirvana songs.
He too is knowledgeable and so easy to talk to. he was super helpful to all the guests.

Thank you to both of them for a brilliant memorable week!
