"Largo das Forras" is probably the most important square of Tiradentes! After crossing a small stone bridge ("Ponte das Forras"), over an also small river ("Ribeiro Santo Antônio"), one reaches "Largo das Forras", the real heart of this historical town! Its name - "forras" - probably refers to the many freed female slaves that lived and worked around this square in the 18th century. Today, many restaurants, bars, art galleries and souvenir shops occupy its old colonial houses. "Largo das Forras" is a very busy square, day and night, with tourists and natives enjoying its cosmopolitan atmosphere. Enjoy!

What a great place! That's where all the best restaurants and bars are, with live music, typical local food, delicious! A little expensive though. The little shopping places are another delight!
