Very friendly students and monks . You can visit the best early morning 6-7 am when they have morning prayers. Otherwise temple is also opened for visitors. 200 rupees for foreigner

Worth a visit especially the oldest building of he monastery complex. Beautiful wood work and Buddha statues. You can feel the centuries in this building that survived earthquakes and other disasters. Monks are super friendly and happy to show you around. Walk down towards back in the garden for a nice view over the river

This small monastery and school is on the north side of town and worth a stop for 30-45 minutes. The entrance fee is about $2. Photos are not allowed in the monastery. It's inexpensive and worth a stop as you're walking around town.

Of course this is a place to visit, but if you go up to Mustang you will see monasteries with more authentic background. If you go down to Jomson, then not miss this place. . .

The door of the Upper Mustang and its unreal land. I was in trekking along this remote and magic region and started from Kagbeni village. I remember its green walled fields and the view on the Kali Gandaki valley and the its wide river. The historical center of Kagbeni was unforgettable because of its particular stone walls all around and it was interesting to visit its ancient tibetan Gompa where buddhist monks were praying and i could attend their lesson inside the monastery. It was a unique chance and emotion. This was one of my trips to Nepal organized by Nepal Trip Service team and especially by trekking and trip manager Kabin Kuikel. I heartly suggest to evebody to contact him for your dream trip to Nepal.

I visited the monastery in April 2016. The monastery, itself is very ancient, with scrolls that are about 800 years old. There is an active school there with many young novices populating it and giving it life. If you are lucky enough to get to Kagbeni, this is a must. Be respectful and let the atmosphere of this ancient place soak into you. Then go and wander around the cramped and convoluted passageways of the equally ancient old city.

Beautiful and interesting monastery with good monk explanations. There is a monks residence. Interesting to visite. Beautiful frescoes.

The old monastery building in its original condition was the only one in the area that survived the earthquake. The cult objects, old books and statues preserved there are extremely valuable. The monastery was founded in 1429 and cultivates the old traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. The monks from the monastery built a second, new temple next to it. They also educate several dozen young monks, providing them with full support. The local monks are very open and polite. They are happy to tell guests about the monastery and their life. You cannot take photos in the old monastery, unlike the new one. Admission costs only 200 rupees. The ticket in the form of a leaflet [in English] contains a lot of information about the history of the monastery.
