About
We’re a bold bunch of riders, explorers & hard-core thrill seekers that bring it. We are situated on the beautiful south coast of Mauritius. Our rides make you see the back-country of Mauritius from the seat of an All Terrain Vehicle. Quads allow access to places where few people go. In fact, these sure-footed machines can take you to places that even horses fear to tread! You are just a phone call away from an adrenaline packed fun day. So? What are you waiting for?

We had a brilliant 2 hour ride with Rodney. He was very informative, helpful and friendly! We swam in the waterfall, saw a load of "hidden" Mauritius and had a great time. The whole day trip sounds amazing but it isn't cheap! Well worth it though! I'd thoroughly recommend it!

My husband and I choose the Lost in Nature trail. We absolutely loved it. Nice welcome, fantastic guide, Christopher, who does not hesitate to share his knowledge of Mauritius with you. Very good machines. Christopher also adapts to your needs or wishes in terms of speed and fun. You drive along the ocean and then through sucar cane fields and rocky or muddy ground. Stop in a restaurant, quite a surprise but oh we ate like kings!
Stop à l’Exil, another wonderful place in the middle of nature.
We loved all of it, even the rain! Thank you Christopher!! If we are back in Mauritius, we are back at your place.
To reach the place: be careful: your gps misses the left turn by 400 meters. At least, ours did. After you pass the tea and sugar plantation de Saint Aubin, you see a sign for Andrea Lodges on your left. Just follow it. Do not be put off by the sight of the factory there. Drive through it and forget it. Focus on Andrea Lodges and just go.
You won’t regret it.

This was our first trip to Kenya and we had the pleasure of having Anthony as our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the animals and the culture. Our Land cruiser was brand new and very comfortable. Bigfoot Adventures has the best safaris and we definitely want to come back.

We had a nice 2 hour drive on the quads. Time went quickly and in hindsight we should maybe have taken a longer trip. But nevertheless is was nice to see a bit of the south of the island from a quad bike. Very polite and nice staff, helpful and easygoing. If you are looking for an experience like this, Bigfoot is for sure a safe choice.

I will preface this by saying I’ve done some amazing tours and travelled a fair bit and this tour was up there with the best.

Pickup for us was around 8.30am and the drive is about an hour from the north west side of the island to the location south. Driver was very pleasant and made sure we were comfortable.

When we arrived we were greeted by manager and found out the other manager/owner was our driver so that was a nice surprise.

The manager checked us in quickly and gave us our helmets and introduced us to Akshay who was our guide for the day.

The quads are super easy to use. And we found that we were travelling on the quads through fields and the edge of the jungle so it’s very safe and your guide will make sure that all road elements that you do encounter will be safe for you.

The first stop was La Vanille which is a crocodile and turtle farm and has various other attractions too. Held a baby crocodile which was quite cool but by far the coolest thing was walking into a giant turtle enclosure. There are hundreds of turtles and the fact you’re able to interact with them as well just makes it amazing and this is all within the first hour.

We then left La Vanille and headed to Rochester Falls through the fields, on arrival at Rochester Falls we walked down a pathway to get to the falls. The pathway has large amounts of clay and can be slippy in the wet. There are also some craters so be careful going down, good walking footwear is essential, you need this for the quads anyway so you should be fine.

Rochester falls is amazing, the expanse of the place makes it feel special. Bring/wear swimwear on your ride as you can swim in the falls, it’s something we overlooked in the notes but definitely would do if we came back.

After the falls we went for lunch. There is a resort somewhere amongst those fields that the guide takes you to, lunch is prepaid (included in our package). And you just get to enjoy. The food is tasty and we both enjoyed it.

After lunch we set off for the cliffs. Views are amazing and you’ll get a lot of lovely pics here. If you’re lucky and get some extra quad biking in, your guide can take you to a couple of cool spots, one of which is a naturally created swimming pool next to the ocean.

Finally after this we went back to the lodge and handed back our gear and returned the quads.

I would mention you will get muddy and actually I would encourage you to do so, the mud water is actually warm and I’ve never been so happy being mucky, it’s all part of the experience.

Akshay was fantastic throughout the tour and gave us plenty of time everywhere and let us enjoy. I would say one point is to just keep an eye out for back trailers. I’m very comfortable on a quad bike and can keep up with any sort of speed. My wife was less so especially around the rocky bits and fell behind at times, but otherwise he was fantastic.

One other thing I will mention is that everything in this tour is paid for you. As in entry to places, lunch etc. it’s not other tours I’ve been on where they still charge you to do things, this is a properly organised tour, well thought out and enjoyable.

The last thing I would say is that we both had sunglasses for the tour. Sunglasses only were so good for dust. I would ask if the tour place could get helmets with visors because that would be a lot better.

Overall I rate this experience as one of the best I’ve ever done. We both loved it, it’s been the highlight of our trip. Thank you guys, we’ll be recommending this to anyone who is coming here.

That is the BEST quad i've done so far in Mauritius! I would recommend this to all residents of Mauritius asUnion d'Ucre is really a beautiful part of our island that is still hidden.

Why is it the best? For a number of reasons...
Quad can be very expensive for us residents. The promo offered by Big Foot was an opportunity not to miss. We got a really great deal for 2 hours quad and a short walk.
We had children with us and the quad felt safer because of the back support for the second passenger on the double quad. All children were on the back seats and they had a wonderful time!
The place itself is a hidden gem. You will discover the sugar cane fields, old mills, preserved forests, la roche qui pleure and rochester falls. So, great trip for photos!
The land is relatively flat aside from a few spots so you can go quite fast.
Christopher, our guide, has been very nice to us, riding with us all along and ensuring that everyone was safe.
We really enjoyed the fact that we could go our own speed, sometimes faster and sometimes racing with each other. All other places we were at did not allow us to go that fast.
Before we left for our drive, we were asked to wear sunglasses because of the dust and some of us did not have any. They lent us a few which was very VERY practical! Could not have rode without those.

We had a great time! Would definitely go back again on the next promo!

Tips:
Bring your sunglasses
Bring a scarf to wrap around your nose and mouth (on a dry sunny day there is a LOT of dust and those at the back of the line just breath everything in)
A cap on sunny days
Wear old clothes because you are definitely going to get out of there dirty as hell
Wear sports shoes
Bring your camera and stop for pictures
We went for the 3 oclock perfect which was perfect (sun was down, was not too hot)

First and foremost, the quad biking experience was amazing and one of my favorite activities from my vacation in Mauritius. The scenery is phenomenal and the terrain is pretty diverse which makes it really fun.

HOWEVER, my actual interactions with the Big Foot Adventure staff left much to be desired. I spoke with Jamil via the phone just one day before the day I wanted to come. I was nervous that I was reaching out to them too late but he was extremely helpful in getting me a reservation – Thanks Jamil!

But after that, everyone else was pretty slack. I showed up, after an hour and a half drive with private transportation and if my driver hadn’t spoken to the office staff in Creole, I likely wouldn’t have been offered help. 4 people in that office saw me standing there trying to figure out where to go and what to do and no one tried to assist. After the driver sorted things out for me, I paid and headed to the area where the quad bikes were kept. I was by myself and met a family of 5 who would also be riding that day. They had been waiting well before my arrival with no update given. We all sat out in the blazing sun waiting and waiting and waiting past our scheduled 12 noon departure time still without any update. A couple of staff came riding up in a truck and started fiddling with the quad bikes at around 12:15 but they said nothing to us. No apology for being late, no update on when we’d get started – nothing. By about 12:35 they finally lined up the bikes for us. We all paid for single rides and they didn’t have enough bikes for all 6 of us. We started with 4 double bikes and one single bike. The parents of the family volunteered to ride together and were promised a refund for the difference of the single and double rides.

We finally got started and no more than 15 mins into the ride, the parents’ bike broke down. We stopped and waited for the guide to go get each of those individuals off of their bikes and then deposited them onto the backs of one of the other bikes driven by their children. This means the family of 5 who paid for 5 single rides now had 4 people on 2 bikes and only one single rider – a significant difference in cost. Hopefully, they got their refund.

After that delay, we began riding again but didn’t make it another 15 mins before ANOTHER bike had problems. This time it was the single bike so the instructor traded bikes with the rider and had to stop no less than every 20 mins to do something to his bike before we could continue. The entire trip was stop and go stop and go but not to see the sights or take pictures – we kept stopping because the darn bikes were breaking down.

My last issue is that I didn’t see any guidance about how to be prepared beforehand. I just happened to look at several pictures here on TripAdvisor and noticed everyone had on a hiking or tennis shoes so I brought a pair along with me just in case. Indeed, I needed them because the floor of the bike gets hot from the engine, I suppose, so anything with a thin sole wouldn’t work well at all. Additionally, they didn’t tell me that we’d have the option of swimming in this lovely fresh water waterfall so I didn’t come prepared with a bathing suit. Luckily, I decided to go in fully clothed (well worth it) but it would have been nice to have a suit.

All in all – this company better be glad their ride is on such naturally beautiful terrain which is entirely why I'm scoring this activity as very good because the actual organization of the experience was greatly lacking.

This was a great quad experience- it felt tailored based on our skills.
Christoper was an excellent guide- he did a great job of storytelling about the area and took a genuine interest in our experience.
We never felt rushed or that he was just going through the motions.
The quads were in great shape.
