- B BAlgiers, Algeria17 contributionsA must do attraction in Hatta!Amazing view, relaxing sailing on a donut electric boat. A must-do attraction while in Hatta. There is free parking and a free shuttle for a 2min ride to the dam entrance. The staff there is very helpful and access to boats, kayaks and other floating devices is easy with safety boats all around to support at any time.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 5, 2023
- Safari Desert AdventuresDubai, United Arab Emirates17 contributionsThe Hatta Water Dam is a picturesque destination located about one hour and 40 minutes from Dubai. Here’s what you needScenic Beauty: The dam is surrounded by mountains, offering a stunning natural landscape. It’s a great escape from the bustling city life. Activities: Visitors can rent kayaks from Hatta Kayaks and explore the calm waters of the dam. Kayaking is a fun way to enjoy the serene environment and take in the views. Heritage Village: While in Hatta, consider visiting the Hatta Heritage Village, which provides insights into the region’s history and culture. Tours and Sightseeing: There are various guided tours available that cover not only the dam but also other attractions in the area. These tours often include visits to the Heritage Village, Honeybee Garden, and more. Parking: Keep in mind that parking at the top can be a bit tricky due to its popularity.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten February 28, 2024
- Sand77MDubai, United Arab Emirates78 contributionsSuperb viewVisited the Hatta Dam & stunning view. We were glad that allow us to drive on top of the dam. During the summer ideal to visit after 2pm so you will not feel the heat. There is some additional facilities coming up & Im sure it will be superb experience. You can stop by Cristal water retail shop & buy fresh bottle water & some homemade cosmetics.Visited September 2024Traveled with familyWritten September 10, 2024

My sister and I did used hatta adventures and booked the mountain tour and I would highly recommend it. We started with the hiking, the scenery through the mountain was breathtaking. We had 2 guides with us , Ali & Kareem, and the were full of information about the area. They were very safety conscious throughout the whole trek and were happy to pace the hike at a speed we were comfortable. The hike took us just under 2 hours. When we got to the valley the bus was waiting there for us with our mountain bikes - again safely is very important so we were given knee and elbow pads and helmets. The cycle through the outskirts of hatta is lovely. When we reached the end of the cycle the bus was waiting to take us back to the dam to go kayaking.
The total cost of tour was 130 aed - this included all the equipment.

It’s an 1 hour 20 minutes drive from Dubai. Must say a great place and a must to be visited with awesome nature, mountains, lake in between mountains where you can hire variety of boats as per your liking and be in the lake touring by Canoe, pedal boat, cycle boat, electric Donut boat, bigger boats as well. We took a electric Donut boat and it costed 300 aed (4 adults and 2 children are allowed). Pedal boats and Kayaks are cheaper.
The parking is down wards where some eateries are there as well along with horse riding, bathrooms etc. The staff at the boat facilities are very helpful.
We really enjoyed and look forward to visit again in future.

This was a brilliant day out for our young family, it felt like we were miles away from the madness and pace of Dubai. We stayed at Sedr Trailers and received 50% off kayaks etc so we opted for the peddle boat with our little 3 year old who loved the it. We visited in November and the sun was scorching by 10:30 so I’d definitely recommend an early start and a lot of sunscreen as although the boat has a cover the little ones sit on seats not directly under the cover so as the sun moves they’re directly in the sun.

There is something in this place that will make you feel calm and relaxed and blessed, all at the same time.
The mountain rocks are just eye candy and the water itself is majestic.
Its my first kayak experience and it was real fun😊
The price is 60AEd for one person with unlimited time. There are water bikes, kayak, pedal boats and motorboats...
The workers are polite and helpful. I pity them though working all day under high temperature
I do not advise people to go there this month. With 43 degrees at 10am, i felt collapsing.
A visit during winter would be great.

About one hour 40 mins from Dubai, Hatta dam is a good getaway from the city. A decent mountainous scene when you get out of Dubai. Good multi lane roads all the way.
It’s a great location and the water boats provided for rent by Hatta Kayaks are decent fun to float around the lake. A couple of speedboats on hand to help if anyone gets in trouble but all I saw were people having fun.
A few tips: Car park is at the bottom of the hill so either park up and all walk to the top of a steep hill (although there are steps) or drop everyone off at the top and then go park in the car park. The only toilets are in the car park at the bottom of hill. So use them before you go back up the hill to the dam and boat rides.
Refreshments are available at entrance of the dam - hot and cold drinks, and snacks.
The boat rides are reasonably priced for the amount of time you can use them. Everyone has to wear a life jacket which they provide. Fully recommended and great photo backgrounds for those looking for memory snaps.
A few decent restaurants close by (we went to al Hajarain which is a five min drive away).
No picnic area or place to sit down by the dam - have to visit local parks for that.
Prayer rooms available also available in the car park.

We wanted to take the drive out of Dubai to get out the city and thought to go to Hatta dam for some kayaking would be a good idea and we weren’t wrong.
After finding the dam it can be a struggle parking, you can either park at the top of quite a steep hill which is on the side of a one way road or at the bottom of the hill in the car park. After seeing the long queue to the top we decided to park down the bottom of the hill. Following on from a 15 minute up hill accent we got to the payment both, which was easy enough to rent the kayak for a couple of hours at a good price.
Once on the damn it is lovely for the first 20/30 minutes can get quite tedious just going round in circles. Although great for people watching as water sports aren’t for everyone.

So beautiful to have the stark contrast of the dark mountains against the turquoise water. The company providing the different options was very well priced as well, with a singular kayak/water bike for only 60 dhs for unlimited time (120 for a double). One hour is probably the most you need however, because it does get tiring, and the space is not enormous. It’s a shame you can’t swim, but of course understandable given that it’s a dam.

We have visited the Hatta Dam recenlty. It's a nice place to visit. However,it's very hard to reach this place. There is no signage board to indicate how many km and so on. Neither Google map or smart dubai/ any other map application will not guide correct way to reach in there. Struggled little bit and drive 213 km from discovery gardens to hatta dam. But the place is worth it. There is no shop to buy food in there. So better carry water and snaks with you.

Actually we planned to visit jabal jais.. we have reached till the ""bottom"".. but due to the bad weather condition the policemen didnt allow to go.. so we took deviation to hatta.. a nice place to spent with family and friends.. now many activities are initiated by dubai govt. Like boating horse riding etc.. reasonable cost of boating allows each and every one to enjoy..

Is the dam area all hiking trails or are there some paths?
I will be 6 months pregnant and would like to know if it is suitable
Written October 23, 2022
There are paths and stairways. I also saw a few cars drop people just near the dam. Not sure about those cars, as we were required to park the car and walk up the stairs for about 500 metres.
