Rifigio Arbolle is located in a small isolated valley, next to two beautiful lakes.
We came there after the end of the lunch time, but we still got excellent cakes
(tarta cu ciocolata and tarta cu mascarpone), so we regained energy for a short but steep hike to the pass (col de Chamole).

Stayed a couple of nights at this refuge near Aosta while climbing the nearby peaks Monte Emilius and Punta della Valletta. It can be reached the easy way by a short walk from a cable-car/chairlift or the hard way (as in my case) by a 2,000m slog from the town. Once there, the ambience by a lake and stream beneath soaring peaks is very relaxing. The food and drink are good and the staff friendly and welcoming. There is even a hot shower !

Easy to reach. Very clean and nice hut keepers. unfortunately I was just at the beginning of the season and I was the first one to go in that season. The food was also delicious and everything reasonable priced.

We spent one night at the refuge with our 2 children age 8 and 10. Superb setting, very well appointed, impeccably clean, with lovely hosts and good food and wine!

One negative point though: the bathrooms are common ones, only 2 per floor, one for the women and one for the men, with just taps to wash. The refuge was full on the week end we visited, and one of the male guests behaved quite rudely by invading the ladies bathroom (doors do not close, it is open to everybody to go in at any time. The lack of privacy made it difficult for women to have a wash in peace. So just be warned!
Other than that, it is really a spectacular place!
