OK so the vintner lives a stone throw away from the chateau in a fairly modern alpine house. I might add that the chateau has seen better days. Yes by all means go bang on the door of his house and ask to taste his wines. Check out his web page in three languages to find out where. You can buy them directly from his cellar by the case as do pretty much all the vintners in the valley.

Best time to sample is during the valley wide spring tasting held on the last Sunday of May every year. All of the wine makers in the valley throw open their doors and for a modest fee of 8 Euros you can move among the wineries sampling everything as well as munch on some salami, cheeses and bread. Fill your trunk with cases of wine from the valley. What's not to like.
