If you go at Metsovo and you don't have the experience of the old - nowdays deserted- "national road" , then you missed to get in touch with the soul of Metsovo and Ipiros.

Travelling Kalliroi to Metsovo: parts of the road very narrow narrow; possibility of damage to road by adverse conditions/falling stones, but well worth the effort. The views are most rewarding

Traffic-wise it's not nearly as bad as it once was, before the New Egnatia was built and a lot of heavy long-distance traffic moved off onto that, but you can still get stuck behind a lorry where it isn't possible to get past for miles...More
