wet walk to the folly
Nov 2020 • Family
This was a lovely walk even on a wet day in lockdown. Shame the folly isn't open though, would be a much better experience.

Meandering in Pontypool Park
Jun 2019 • Family
This is a great walk around the outer boundary of the park taking in the Shell Grotto, Folly Tower and gardens. The views from the top of the hill near the Folly are spectacular covering many counties and 360 degree landscape.Highly Recommended first class.

Great views.

Quite a narrow road up to the parking place which could be fun on a busy day. Once parked it is a short walk to the tower we were lucky it was sunny today but could be muddy on a wet day. At the tower you get great views around, we were entertained by a glider going backward and forward above the tower.

Windy views
Jun 2019 • Couples
Lived in Pontypool for nearly 10 years and the first time we've gone to the Folly Tower.
You can drive up along Folly Lane which is a very narrow lane but takes you to a car park on the right about 200 yards from the Tower.
Amazing views across Pontypool, Cwmbran and towards Abergavenny.
Would be lovely for dog walking but based on there was a few dog poops about I would suggest only for responsible owners only.
Would recommend.

Bank Holiday Family Walk
May 2019 • Family
As a family we like to do a new walk on a Bank holiday. we printed a map and it was quite easy to read. the park was beautiful, with the band stand, cross in the garden. Walking through the woods the bluebells were in bloom and It was very quiet. The path up to the tower was fairly steep but when we arrived there it was well worth it to see the views, we could see the Bristol Channel the one side and the Sugar Loaf the other.
At the top it was very windy, the history about the tower was very interesting. The new born lambs were delightful. We took a detour on the way back and visited the American park well worth a visit to see the enormous trees.

Interesting Folly
Oct 2018 • Couples
Folly Tower can be reached after a fairly steep walk up through Pontypool Park. We couldn't enter the tower but from around the tower there are great views over Pontypool.
