We visited this place yesterday. We could have spent a lot longer, it was fascinating. So professionally done and brought back many memories. Well worth a visit. The drive from cairns was picturesque and worth the effort going. We'd go again.

What a wonderful suprise. We had visited the Village about 30 years ago. Back then there was only a half dozen or so buildings. But Wow. This place could not be faultered in any way. Well laid out, beautifully maintained and something from every aspect of Queensland life. This establishment is a credit to the staff and the present owner... More

What a treasure store of fascinating items from the 1800's to the mid-1900s from the early days of tin mining and logging. Not only were the buildings themselves well worth a look, but they are full of wonderful old things organized by type. The Toy Store, the printers, the aboriginal hunting equipment, the furnished house of the founder, etc, etc.... More

Huge historic town with so many buildings to explore, went there expecting an hour or so and left (with 3 young kids) after spending half a day. So much to see and the kids had a great time too. They offered train rides to and from Herberton as well as damper and billy tea on the day we went. Very... More

This is slightly unlike other historic villages, as most of the shops have extensive displays but no human attendant (e.g. the camera store displays a huge range of old cameras; the radio store displays old radios etc.). At first we were slightly underwhelmed at the lack humans on staff, but after watching a log being cut lumbermill-style, our day instantly... More

Turned up for a brief visit and realised we could easily spend a day here especially with access to the mining museum nearby. Everything was impeccably presented, really well maintained. Some fabulous collections of historical artefacts. The kids wanted to look at everything and wished we could have stayed longer. Would love to come back another time.

We found the experience of the historical village and railway absolutely brilliant, it reminded us of towns we, our parents and grandparents grew up in. The buildings have been lovingly restored (a credit to the workforce that saved and rebuilt them) so as you enter, you step back in time and the memories come flooding back. Credit must go to... Absolutely wonderful exhibition of "old days in Australia". Reminded me of my young days at school, even had school sums in £sd. which was in use at that time. Old multiplication tables and sums, etc really excellent display. Spent whole day looking around. Cafe facilities good too while staff were helpful and friendly.

This is not like walking through a museum. This is like being there at the time the town was in operation such is the realism. There is every building and facility that one would find in a town in early Queensland. Each display is crammed full of exhibits and the settings very realistic (the man in the Miners Hut!). The...
