Relatively easy drive up the hill, just takes around 15-20 minutes to get to the top from the bottom of the hill. Once you are there, you get some great unrivalled views of the Thrissur town.

Vilangankunnu aka Vilangan Hills is a nice spot for a quick getaway from Thrissur. It is being maintained by the authorities, so as you go up the hill, you have to pay an entrance fee and atop the hill there is a walkway going around the whole hill with seating areas built. You get a good view from there as you can see the whole of thrissur town and the hills encircling the place in the distance. There is also a small children's park to one side with some swings in them.
There isn't much refreshment available just a small tea stall with some homemade snacks, which is quite good. The place is great for couples since it provides the privacy away from peeping eyes

Vilangan hills is located about 5 kms from Thrissur on the Thrissur-Calicut route. You get a panoramic view of the town from the top of the hill. There are a few sculptures and a few amusement rides for children. It’s good for the local people for a break. Other tourists should not spend their good time for going to the top of hill only for this view.

I have been a frequent visitor to this small hillock in the past. The place provided good view of the town and surrounding agricultural area with a cool soothing breeze.

Then the Government and its dumb bureaucrats came in with their development agenda. What they did first was to construct concrete canals and several other structures. They also built security cabins as usual to stop the public and ask questions. A fee also was fixed. The poor tiny place could not afford to hold so much constructions to and tough bureaucrats.

Now, better if you forget this place. It is as bad as visiting any Government offices. Shabby, polluted and pretentious.

a small hill outside thrissur city, Vilahankunnu is a hill that is good for a local traveller to just send some time, but if you re short of time, do give it a miss. Nothing great here other than a small hill top with grass growths, some debilitated walkways ,a play park for children with one slide and one see saw and an unused open air theaatre. All great concept but not utilised nor maintained properly. But that said, this place is pretty crowded during the weekends, s i guess ppl do find some charm here

A good choice for city residents to escape from the busy traffic and pollution. Can spend one or two hours on the top of this small hill.
