I love the works of Zdzisław Beksiński. From the first time I saw his masterpieces, I became mesmerized with his artworks. The Art Gallery in Sanok contains most of his works and for sure it is a place worth visiting especially when you are traveling around Podkarpacie voivodship. As my family is living around 60 km from Sanok for sure I will visit the museum many times in the future :)

I find Beksinski's paintings more mysterious than Dali's and more haunting than Giger's. My expectation regarding the collection in Sanok were not big, Sanok being a small town and such. But I was astonished by the amount Beksinski's works.
There are dozens of large paintings, numerous drawings, photographs, sculptures and other creative works.
A moving human touch is given by the recreation of the artists studio with the original objects used by Beksinski, including his vast audio collection or 1990s computer. It's like he's just left and will come back any minute.
This collection is very well worth the travel to this remote location in Poland.

His wife Zofia died of cancer in 1998 and his son Tomek (a DJ on Polish Radio 3 and English translator - he did Monty Python and James Bond - on Christmas Eve 1999 from suicide. My wife recorded his last broadcast and she and her friends thought he would do something.
The exhibition is very well orgainsed with photos of Beksinski at work in his studio, his photographic and computer equipment, cds etc. The art work is intriguing and his images challenge the imagination. He met an awful violent death at the hands of a 19 year old, but his work lives on. A truly internationally-recognised Polish artist.

Great artist, but you need to be totally focused on art to understand on what are you looking at. If you are not into this, might be just boring.

Words fail to sufficiently describe the incredible collection of works of Beksinski. Items ranged from his early works - including photography and sculptures - to his iconic paintings and late digital explorations until his death. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the modern art scene of late 20th century.

I was totally unfamiliar with this artist and especially his work. Paintings, although disturbing or rather dark in nature, they are amazing. The attention to detail is unbelievable.

If you're at least curious of Beksinski's live and art, that's definitely place to go. Lots of photos, pictures and paintings available to see starting from simple drawings made by 2-year old Beksinski. There is a temporary VR exhibition when you can walk into his 4 paintings (7 mins of show for 10 PLN). Overall, you need ca. 2 hours for visiting all three stories with pieces of art. In addition to that, there is a separate exhibition of icons which is also worth visiting. And all of that for 15 PLN (adult ticket price) which is reasonably cheap.

I made the trip to Sanok from Warsaw specifically to see the Beksinski exhibition. It was absolutely worth the 7hr train ride each way. I left feeling inspired, and totally in awe. Sanok is a small, lovely town and is a perfect setting for the museum, and couple days in Sanok is an ideal amount of time to spend. If you're looking for something off the beaten path and you love dark, surrealist art at it's best, definitely consider trip to the Beksinski museum.

Absolute must-see for any fans of Beksinski or those wanting to discover his art. The biggest collection of his works includes paintings, sculptures, photography, drawings and more. We hired a guide from the museum and he said lots of interesting things and showed us other parts of the museum too.

This is a must do while in Sanok. You don't really have to be an art lover to be blown away by the talent of Beksinski. It is just a great feeling to enter the castle and find something totally different from furniture. Great location for the gallery! We will be back one day!
