Constantine, a city straddling a deep and narrow river canyon, is a city of bridges. My favourite is Slimane Mellah footbridge. On one end freely accessible, on the other connected to an elevator - or ascenseur, as they call it in French - it's one thing in Constantine that shouldn't be skipped. If you are not prone to vertigo, cross it and around the mispoint of the bridge span you'll be treated to spectacular views of the city and canyon in three directions.

This bridge seems to be right in the centre of the city. It’s very narrow and not particularly long. The railings are not particularly high; I suspect that in many countries they wouldn’t meet health and safety regulations. Therefore if you have a tendency to suffer from vertigo, avoid, and if you have young children with you, keep hold of them!

the entrance to mellah slimane footbridge is located below the entrance to restaurant ighersaan. you will see a line of locals next to the restaurant. they are waiting for an elevator that goes down several floors to reach the level of footbridge
there is also stairs. i walked down, but took the elevator back up.
