Stand in the field where Bruce Bairnsfather enjoyed the Christmas Truce of 1914; visit the cottage where he was billeted and from where he sketched a major selection of his ‘Old Bill’ cartoons.Cover the ground where the Australians launched their attack in the Battle of Messines in 1917; visit the most southerly mine craters of that battle as well as the sites of its ‘lost mines’, then spend a while in the notorious ‘Birdcage’, named as such by British troops because of the height and depth of the barbed-wire that surrounded it. Walk in the footsteps of Sir Winston Churchill; stand at the famous ‘Hyde Park Corner’ site of the massive underground shelters that could house up to 1,200 men, and then take a look at the Charing Cross Advanced Dressing Station specially constructed by the Australians for the 1917 Messines offensive.Custom built tours to the Somme, Etaples, Montreuil, St Omer, the Ypres Salient, Fromelles Villers Bretonneux, Le Hamel etc..

The full day tour took in as much of the WW1 memorials as you could want, together with Claude's passionate narrative. We came away with the understanding of the tragedies faced by the soldiers & civilians alike, all done with the respectfulness that a tour...More

A fabulous museum and well worth a visit. Friendly staff who are keen to speak English. Complements the memorial - lack of refreshments is disappointing.
