The local legends say if you failed to Visit Bharmani Mata your Yatra of Manimahesh will not be successful or it will not counted as complete Yatra. So it is important to Visit this temple.
Nice Location but tough Motorable road i will not suggest people to travel by Bike and it has steep turns and sharp edges it could be so risky. However we travelled by Bullet which was too Dangerous we realised after reaching and then we came back to another way which leads next to Bharmour Bus stop. It wasn't easy either but atleast it was dry as compared mudy one from which we came.

A must visit temple near Bharmour about 20kms from city. After a short drive, you need to walk for few 100 mts to reach this temple. An ancient one with powerful belief on the Barmani mata on her powers. There is a small pond in front of the temple which is considered having medicinal effects if you take bath. I did.

This is the first step in Manimahesh yatra before starting the yatra you have to visit this temple and take a bath in holy water only then you can start your journey and approach to this temple from Bharmour is little risky by road better prefer the local transport.

The day when we reached Bharmour from Chamba,it was near about two o'clock afternoon, the hotel owner of Bharmour view advised us to visit Bharmani Mata Temple on that day before taking rest because on that day Langar Sewa was going on up at Bharmani Mata Temple. So, we moved towards the temple which is 4 km. ahead from the town. The temple is situated in an isolated place at the top of a hill. On the way to the temple, the nature captivated just like a heavenly feeling views. As langar sewa was there,so the temple campus was crowded with devotees. There, the Goddess of Mata Bharmani considered as the guardian of the valley. All pilgrims take a holy dip in a pool at the temple premises before going to Manimahesh Yatra. They believe that to seek the Devi, their journey into the high mountains will be safe by blessing of Mata Bharmani. We also had our lunch in Langar. It was a great feeling to seat on ground with local people.

Four kilometres from Bharmour this temple is considered to be guarding and overlooking city of Bharmour . Pilgrims start Manimahrsh Yatra after offering prayers to Bharmani Mata .

The temple is situated in an isolated place at the top of a hill.To reach the temple one can trek 2 kms or can take a ride for 6kms.The road reaching the temple is quite rough and in places there are only boulders and the car has to cross them.A cold breeze blows accross the place always and the temperature is quite chilling. There is a kund where the devotees take holy dip before starting the Manimahesh trek. The temple premises has rooms where devotees can take rest and there is oven for cooking.During winter from the month of November snowfall starts and the temple remains closed. The priest offers Prasad to all visitors. The place is awesome and a must visit for all visitors.

Bharmani Mata temple is situated at least 200 feet above the Bharmour Helipad, overlooking the town.
There are couple of ways through which you can reach the temple.
Option1 - trek the 2.5 km trail, that starts from helipad, goes through apple orhard and Gaddi village, and reaches the ridge.
Option2 - take a cab, and reach through a 6 km bumpy and extremely narrow road, winding its way through the mountains.
The trek route through the gaddi villages, and apple orchards with snow peaks of Pir Panjal in the backdrop is a bliss..
The temple is quite popular with locals and pilgrims coming to visit Manimahesh peak. It is here, they start their journey, after taking a holi dip in Bharmani temple Kund.
When we visited the temple, there were a langar service going on. Locals with all their love served a delicious meal, which we would remember for a long time!!

Firstly, reaching this temple is not a mean feat, the trail leads u past the Churasi Mata temple, past the Helipad and Bharmour college and through 1 or 2 villages past apple orchards to the top of the mountain and the temple. All in all its a 4-5km journey. One can hire a Bolero or jeep from the Taxi stand which will only help u reach halfway there (upto the Hanuman temple). Its after that the real trail begins, broken steps, with snow covered slope on one side and deep ravines on the other, walking this trail is dangerous and mesmerizing. Only people without co-morbid conditions should attempt reaching this temple.(Thank God for the benches placed at appropriate distances)
The Temple is located at the top of the hill, surrounded by snow. I has a tank where devotees bathe. Is surrounded by astounding views and provides ample photo opportunities.
LEGEND 1: Bharmour was the abode of the Bharmani Mata Goddess, but when Lord Shiva arrived with his retinue to make the Manimahesh peak his home, the goddess graciously agreed to shift her abode to where this temple stands. In return she asked Lord Shiva for a boon- that all his followers who are going on the Manimahesh Yatra should first visit her and take a dip in the pool for their yatra to be valid . This, the Great Lord granted !!
LEGEND 2: Bharmani mata was a simple cow-herd who led a simple life in the peaks of these great mountains. One day her son went out for grazing the cattle but never returned. Distraught at her loss, she went from place to place, searching for her son and calling his name, when atlast, unable to bear no more, she flung herself from the peak and died a grisly death. The locals still seemed to see and hear her spirit roaming and calling her son in those lofty heights. In order to soothe her troubled spirit, they elevated her to the level of Goddess and constructed a temple in her honour.
