With a group of friends we went to Grottammare Alta, driven by curiosity and by magazine articles. The village - among other things among the most beautiful in Italy - is enchanting. The serious problem is that there are NO services! There are no museums open and we had to ask a restaurant to kindly let us use the bathrooms since there were elderly people with us. We experienced a very uncomfortable situation which negatively affected the success of the trip. I therefore invite all those interested to think carefully before going to Grottammare Alta.

The sea is beautiful, the place is good value for money but very boring, the beaches have no music except for rare exceptions for children, a poor amusement park without dull songs, bans for dogs, music etc. My eight year old girl cried and wanted to go home. For the over eighty perhaps it's good for rest because there is a silence from beyond the grave on the beaches. The village is a desert I was even about to leave the clutch there. If you want to meditate go to Grottammare because by midnight you're in bed. If you want to rest go there but forget the fun and stay Be careful if you go to accommodation near the station because there are no protective barriers and the train won't let you sleep. For me, a terrible experience, I will never go again.

We were lucky to have stopped here for a fe hours when traveling along the Adriatic coast. The village is nicely preserved, with wonderful views and a great historic atmosphere. Plan at least an hour to explore the alleys and viewpoints (including the castle‘s ruins).

Beautiful borgo with nedieval streets, eassy to access with a car or with the turistic train. Verry difficult to find a place to eat if you dis not book. Some of the owners or restaurants may be a bit arogant.

Come at night, before it gets too dark, and enjoy the view, take a walk in the narrow streets (no cars :-) )
Top it up with a nice dinner at "Osteria dell Arancio", at the peacefull and romantic city square

Beautiful old town! No cars permitted in the old city ... A nice view from the top of the whole valley and the sea! Small roads with a lot of flowers!

If you want a nice place to stay, choose Grottamare instead of San Benedetto...It is finer, nicer and less touristic! We enjoyed our stay there perfectly, take a look at the old town on the mountain!

We have visited this place during our stay in San Benedetto. I can certify that because of Borgo Antico Grottammare was much more unique than San Benedetto. The winery with the beautifull views was unfortunetley closed. All in all this place is worth visit and take few pictures.
