I went for the 8 days tour called “Dog mushing in the taiga of Swedish Lapland” and it was outstanding.
Jokkmokkguiderna provides high quality clothing and equipment. Their dogs are well trained and super nice to cuddle with. Our guide Matti took well care of us throughout the adventure and he had good insight and knowledge of the area.
It involves some hard work, you will be tired and dirty, you will likely freeze (at least a little bit) but if you are up for that then is it an eye opener experience.
Jokkmokkguiderna have my highest recommendations!

Second tour this year with Jokkmokkguiderna and I just keep enjoying it. The tourstarted and finished at Saltoluokta Mountain Station which is located in a lovely setting and great place to stay in.
The tour starts off with a quite long uphill stretch but do not be scared off as you will have an amazing view once you reach the top. Continuing on you will mainly have mountain scenery but there will be parts when you go through the lowlands with some forest as well.
Due to the pandemic we needed to change two nights to winter camping in tents instead of cabins which was I whole new experience to me. So you need to be prepared for changes to the original program due to weather (or a pandemic) as safety always comes first the guests and the dogs when the guide Matti plans the route of the day.
I have praised Jokkmokkguiderna in my other reviews, so please check them out, as I will not put in all details again in this review again.
Thanks again Stina, Matti and all the dogs for the memories! Special thanks to Bettan, Nenana, Mike, Sofia, Zemlan and Homy for put up with me during the weeks!

I went last year for my first dog-mushing tour and was hooked to say at least.
So I booked again for this year (pandemic or not) and I was NOT disappointed.
This time I started off with the tour called “Crossing Lapland with dog sled” and I must say a great mix in both the scenery/nature and different accommodations.
We started in Jokkmokk and finished in Saltoluokta Mountain Station which first gave you the lowlands and forest and then it transformed to spectacular mountain views during the second part of the tour.
Stina, Matti and all the dogs take great care of you through all the steps in this adventure. Easy booking and any questions around it is swiftly answered and the equipment used on the trip all new and/or well maintained. You will get all the support needed from your guide (Matti) who is very knowledgeable but it will still require (hard) work from yourself as guest, as you will help in all activities needed, not just standing on the sleigh. Not to miss out the dogs, they are so lovely but above all well trained and really enjoying pulling that sleigh but they will turn and look at you if you don’t help them by “kicking” in the big uphill’s.
Absolutely 5 out of 5!

We built our Scandinavian vacation around this Winter Market Tour. We couldn't have made a better decision! The activities were well planned and representative of the culture, geography and the season. Mirja and Christian provided wonderful experiences either directly or by partnering with others in the area with specific skills and knowledge. This produced a memorable learning experience. We highly recommend this tour specifically but in general any product they offer. You can book with confidence!

I have done the with dog sled to the Gate of Sarek National Park tour with Matti.
This was just an incredible adventure and we had so much fun on this trip.
During the trip we meet also interesting people on the trail and had nice coffee stops in the nature.
In two overnight accommodations we had the possibility to use a sauna.
Matti and Stinas dogs are so lovely :), the food was great and they have well maintained equipment, which you need under this artic conditions.
The price/performance ratio is right
If i have the opportunity in the future, I will do again a tour with jokkmokkguiderna.

Dear Matti and Stina,
we just had a wonderfull week at your „Sarek“ dpg sled tour! Thank you so much for letting us have this amazing experience with you and your super dog team.
Your dogs are so nice and so well treated with the best food and plenty of love! They are so relaxed and you fell in love with them immediately and it‘s difficult to say good bye..:-(
The tour itself brings you to beautifull places in a wonderfull landscape. The cabins we stayed were very good and cosy.
And you Matti with all your passion and kindness are the perfect host and we felt always secure with you as our guide!
Everything was organized perfectly from start to end.
I can recommend these guys and the tours 100%. It‘s a 10 of 10 👍😊

A day dog sledding at Jokk Mokk far into the Swedish wilderness. We did 40km with these beautiful intelligent animals. Our guides Matti and Stina are truly are committed to ethical handling of their dogs. They love them and care for them like family. The dogs are bred carefully for temperament as well as skill. It shows. No howling or skirmishes before heading off. An air of contained excitement prevails. They are quiet, well behaved and very affectionate. And so beautiful with ice blue eyes and thick luxurious coats.
We drove off over the frozen lake where ice made the going quite slippery, but Matti had given us good instruction in handling the conditions so although a bit scary it was fine. We then drove for several hours through forests and over frozen waterways. There was some very steep uphill going where we helped the dogs by pushing/ running with the sled. Exhausting! Stina told us that when some more entitled tourists don't help the dogs they simply stop and stare over their shoulders as if to say... " well...!?"
We saw several herds of wild reindeer and many tracks of moose ( feet the size of dinner plates..) fox, and other creatures great and small. The dogs were rested regularly so they could cool down by rolling and burying themselves in the snow. They also eat great mounds of it! My favourite dog was a rangy male called 'Extreme'. I sat in the snow with him for ages and he lay his big sleek head on my lap and we talked... What a great dog.
As the afternoon shadows began to lengthen we stopped at a little hut in the forest and cooked lunch over an open fire. Plump yellow and grey birds sang sweet little songs in the trees and swooped down for a snack. The rest was welcome as my legs were feeling the strain of standing on the sled and running up the hills. The dogs lay in the snow and slept or simply looked out at the mountains.
We then set off for the trip back. We took a different route around a wooded row of hills and through forest trails. The lowering sun broke through some snowy cloud and lit the forest with gold and the snow on the surrounding hills and frozen lakes seemed to glow from within. The silence and swift swish of the sled was meditative. The steady rhythmic backward kick of the dogs' paws and the perfect alert triangles of their ears ahead of the neat berry red traces of the sled. I found myself talking to the dogs - saying things like 'isn't it beautiful!?' And 'you are such good dogs!!!' They swiveled their ears and occasionally turned back to look at me with a doggy smile. It took a few hours to get back and I think I fell into a kind of trance- filled with the clean clear silence of the top of the world and totally in awe of these beautiful animals.
What an experience. Totally recommended.

We had an amazing experience. Our dog sled tour with Mattie was absolutely the best vacation we've taken. The dogs are incredible. They're sweet, hard working, and incredible athletes. Mattie and Stina love their dogs. Their care is immediately apparent. We encountered several other dog tour operators and their dogs behaved completely different (more wild, uncontrolled).
In fact, I had a few people remark how quiet and well behaved their dogs were compared to the other tours coming through the area. Mattie and Stina's dogs are beautiful, gentle, sweet.... can you tell I love them?
We had to make a few adjustments to the tour plan because of weather. Don't be surprised if this happens. It won't impact your experience. Everywhere you go is beautiful. Mattie brought wonderful food. I'm picky and a vegetarian and I was never hungry. In fact, I probably put on weight because of all the food I ate.
But an important point to make - if you're going on a multi-day tour be ready to work. The dogs work hard but it's important to help them. If the sled is going uphill, you should be running alongside. When you get up in the morning you should help feed the dogs. At night you should help feed and sometimes put coats on the dogs.
They can be long days but I loved every second of it. We'll definitely plan another tour with Mattie and Stina- but next time we'll get out for longer.

My best friend and I are seasoned travelers and of all of our trips this was by far our favorite. Nothing can prepare your for the adventure you will have dog sledding through the untouched wilderness of the Swedish Lapland, making fires in the middle of snowy lakes, sleeping in teepee tents and cabins lit by just candlelight and wood burning ovens, and bonding with some of the happiest, friendliest dogs in the world. Stina and Matti are extremely knowledgable, passionate, and accommodating to the needs of their guests, their precious dogs, and the environment. I must make mention that i was skeptical in going dog sledding that the animals might be mistreated, and as a vegetarian and activist this would bother me immensely. This was not the case AT ALL. These dogs are cared for with the utmost respect and love, and treated individually to the needs of their own personalities and abilties. They love what they do, their owners, and their lives. After the trip was over my friend and I found ourselves missing them and our guide Stina instantly, wishing we could have spent more time with them. They went above and beyond to accommodate dietary needs, and even to celebrate my birthday. The booking process was seamless and easy and Stina answered every question we had to make us as comfortable as possible and offer the best suggestions for our travels through Sweden. This was truly a once in a lifetime, and life changing experience and I guarantee i will be back for seconds. Thank you Stina and Matti and all your wonderful dogs!
