Deliberate high-pitched noise (teenage deterrent) ruins town centre
Aug 2021 • Family
I am really disappointed. The town centre was ruined by a deliberate high-pitched noise coming from the building that only younger people can hear. It is called a ‘mosquito teenager deterrent.’
I am worried about health impacts that young people may experience through long term exposure. We came to the town as tourists to stay for a meal, but as a result of the deliberate noise, we left the town immediately. I have attached a photo of the mosquito device.
I am shocked that this is even legal!

This is a lovely village.
Aug 2020 • Couples
Because of the layout of Easingwold, I suspect many people simply drive through on the unremarkable main road without stopping; yet if you turn off and get to the Market Place you find the beautiful and charming village centre.

Easingwold is one of our favourite villages in the area and it is a pleasure to come and enjoy a coffee or a bit of lunch in one of the splendid cafes. And on Fridays you also have the little market to look around.

So, today, it was a case of stocking up on biscuits, fruit and veg then having a couple of tasty samosas for lunch, followed by tea and coffee at an outside cafe table while watching the rest of the world slowly wander by.

It’s a hard life at times!

Picturesque market town
Mar 2020
This pleasant market town is just off the busy A19, around 10miles from York and 7 from Rawcliffe Park and Ride (very convenient). Base of the original Market Cross is preserved under a shelter/canopy in an area of cobbles in front of the old Market House. Town was mentioned in the Domesday Book as “Eisicewalt” - a market has been held here since 1221. It’s also the site of an old toll booth, although there’s no evidence now of any structure.

Ancient Stone cross in picturesque village of Easingwold. Small shops, galleries and places to eat - the village is out of the way but a great place to visit.

Unruly youths detract from the village centre
Aug 2019
I have been visiting Easingwold on and off for over 10 years. It is a great large village/small town with some interesting and authentic architecture, picturesque streets and, for those that like that sort of thing, small, independent shops. Almost certainly a great place to live, too. Unfortunately, the market house in the centre of Easingwold seems to attract a gang of youths most afternoons and evenings (they were there on Saturday 10 Sugust 2019). Usually around 10 of them, probably around 12-14 in age, mostly on bikes, wholly unaware of what litter bins are for, unfussed about cycling in close proximity to cars parked in the village centre and, whilst not overtly threatening, on the gobby side and intimidating for single females and the elderly. Easingwold is sufficiently small for the identity of said youths to be known, and I am surprised that local businesses have not complained. They spoil what is otherwise a picture-perfect village centre.

Village Market
Apr 2019 • Family
Came into Easingwold on Friday as we'd heard the village has a market. Whilst only being small everyone we met was really friendly and helpful, with a good range of things on offer. We certainly found various ways to spend more than we expected, which I think is a good thing. Well worth investigating if you're in the area.

Lovely market town
Feb 2019 • Couples
This area in the centre of the town is very traditional with a lovely square. We were lucky as we visited on a Friday when the market was on and it was very friendly with lots of locals getting fish, fruit, vegetables and meat. We bought excellent fish, flowers and plants. A real find.

Great centrepiece of this lovely town
May 2018 • Couples
Easingwold is a very picturesque market town with the Market Cross at the heart of it. The Market Cross is a smart structure in really good condition, all adding to the charm of the town. The Bus stops here and there is also parking available. Today the area has beautiful flowering cherry trees in the grassy park next to it.
Lovely area.
