- Mary WabanCagayan de Oro, Philippines15 contributionsOut of the three places we visited during our Tour C Beach Escapade, this is my most favourite! I bought banana fritters at the store on the island to feed the fishes. There were varieties of species you can see and an hour wasn't even enough for me to do so. I would have loved to bask under the sun if only I had more time (better to book a private tour). You need to pay 100php for the boatmen to take you to the open sanctuary and corals (you also have the option to swim on your own, which I did) but when they left to see the corals, they were nice enough to allow me to hold on to the boat which was soooo cool!Visited February 2024Traveled soloWritten April 22, 2024
- BannedDE6,513 contributions8 years ago when I first came here there were no facilities nor a charge to enter. Boats were banned from the beach and had to anchor on the back side then youd walk 5 miutes across the island. Now it is 250Piso per person. They've added a toilet and about a dozen shade tents with tables and chairs plus a snack bar. While most bancas still had to anchor on back side, there were at least 6 small ones tied up on the beach ruining the visuals. A speedboat came ashore right in the middle too in a flagrant violation of the rules. Stayed parked on the sand for over an hour. Way too crowded now, not Boracay crowded (read:ruined) but over 100 people on the beach midday. Most on group tours so if you time it for when they leave (today about 12 noon) not too crowded. But the sand and water are still among the very best in the entire Archipelago. It's magic.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 15, 2024
- Charish E12 contributionsThis island, along with Bulog Dos and Banana Island are part of a package offered by local tours in Coron because they are located so close to one another. Malcapuya Island is apparently the best of these three, and any of these four is a good stop to break up the trip into smaller parts. It has a long stretch beach, very unique rock formations and the island has soft white sands.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 15, 2024

The experience was unlike any other. The island itself has bad reception - which is great for me so I could focus more on relaxing rather than working or social media. Loved the hammocks spread around the area.
Only issue was we got stuck here for hours. What was supposed to be an 8am to 5pm tour, turned to 8am to 10pm. But yeah, it's not a bad place to get stuck at. We were provided with more beers and chips.
Great island!

Picture perfect island one hour and 15 minutes from Coron. Picnic tables and a shop is available. There is not much corals or snorkelling in the area our guide pointed out but we enjoyed the beach and views.

This place is absolutely gorgeous. The sand is white, the water is crystal blue and the palm trees lining the beach just make it the ultimate topical island. I would definitely recommend in seeing this island through a tour that also takes you to other nearby islands as the water ways are simply stunning!

Yes, this is a nice beach for swimming and the sand is attractive, but, is it worth a 90 minute boat ride to see? I say no. Visited as part of the Island Escapade Tour which offered stops at three beaches. This, our first stop, is attractive, just offering a photo op and not much else.

I really love Malcapuya Island! It has a lovely white sand beach, calm waves, long shoreline and clear waters. It a great place to just swim and enjoy the waters. It's perfect for kids too.
We tried swimming to the coral reef but it was a little too deep/far away. We still enjoyed all the fishes we saw while trying to reach it.
There's locals selling fresh coconut and rice cake snacks like ube rice turon, bud-bud and carioca made of cassava. Bring cash if you want to try these delicious treats.
We wished to have stayed longer but we were on a group tour. Next time, it is best to get a private boat tour.

Some tours mention “ cyc beach” . This it. It was the last stop of our “super ultimate package”. Felt it was too crowded for a small
strip of sand. Snokeling was not good either. Too many boats moving back and forth.

This was the last stop on my beach hopping excursion. More white sand, strong winds and great views. This stop also offers hammocks that set up in a shaded area as well as places to lay under trees in the white sand. Made for a relaxing stop.

A little busy but an absolute paradise. We visited Malcapuya on a boat tour from Coron. The beach is outstanding and it was such a perfect paradise!

Phillipines has shown us much of its beauty. But just as you think it cannot get much more beautiful, you are taken further into the untouched and it is there that nature exposes its splendid.
Seeing it on vlog or travel channels cannot compare to one being there and experiencing it.
The sand is white and fine; the water warm and crystal clear; and the fish, you may ask? Well they swim as freely around you as you are with them.
An older gentleman who lives there - uncle Chris! He runs a little boat business that takes you about 10m out from the beach to see the giant clams and the ‘natural aquarium’ where he will lure the fish over with crackers. You won’t get much sitting round in his little boat; but the idea is to hang off the side of his bat whilst it’s on the move so that you can see the sea bed yourself.
We have been so blessed to have met a wonderful young man, who not only drove us around, but thankfully he does private boat tours too. And at a fraction of any hotel or tour group price, Nonoy will pick you up from your hotel; drive you to the market to pick up the freshest seafood from the day; takes you out to the beach; prep and cook your meals; serve them; and take you back all the way to the hotel.
Had he not told us about this place, we wouldn’t have known. And we are forever thankful to have found a little of this world’s paradise.

One of my favorite beaches in Coron. Nice fine white sand and clear blue waters in this island. There are cottages that can be rented. This island is one of the stops for the island hopping tours. Definitely a nice place to laze around and enjoy the beach and surround islands.

Is there some house or tents for nightsleep?
Written February 26, 2019
My friend, We could arrange a nightsleep for 1 day (with Kim Poy of Travel Juan); basically there are just few shelters on the beach, with a bed and nothing else, bathrooms are 50 m away.
There were no tents, just us and few local fellows staying the other side of the island
waking up in front of the sea is fantastic though!

Hi, how far is the trip to the giant clams from the beach?
Is it easy to hang on to the boat that drags you out to the clams?

Do you have a contact number of the landowner there? We'd like to stay there for two nights. Thank you. :)

Does anybody know if i can stay here overnight ? To camp or to stay in hut is very fine with me, do you guys know any travel agency in coron that can help me out arrange the accommodation and transportation? Please let me know thanks
Written November 11, 2017
Once you reach Coron town you’ll see a lot of travel agencies and cheap hotels. They can help you choose the best places to visit in coron. In case you want to splurge a bit, high end hotels also offer packages. Regarding malcapuya, there are cottages there but i am just not sure if they could be rented for overnyt stays.

Hi there Mona, thanks for your beautiful photos and great tip! I wonder how can we get to Malcapuya and if there is accommodation in the island?

Can we go to Malcapuya island post lunch? Will there be any travel services available to take us there?
Written June 1, 2017

DJEargasm.Thommo
Hi there, You can easily make a lunch stop here but you will need to either join in a group tour, or arrange a private tour as a boat is required to get from Coron to Malcapuya.
(NB: Make it a day trip visiting other islands before and after....if you've never been then I'd suggest incorporating Kayangan Lake, Twin Peaks, Twin Lagoon & Barracuda Lake)
