We were at Caliber 3 during a rainy afternoon. The tour was oversold with about 50 people and while the staff were doing their best, it was crowded to say the least. Sheets of rain punctuated our tour which mostly takes place outside. This greatly impacted our visit and I would have rescheduled but when you are there during the holiday week, that isn't exactly possible. Be sure to dress warmly and wear waterproof jackets if there is a chance that it will rain. Despite the earplugs provided, there is a great deal of loud noise (as to be expected at an experience that includes a shooting range) and it may not be appropriate for people whose ears are sensitive. The "hasbara" part of the experience is great including the video at the beginning and pep talk with the staff who were excellent. We enjoyed the shooting although it felt like a brief part of the overall experience with a lot of waiting since our group was so large. Please know that we did feel safe and in good hands the entire time. I would recommend this with reservations. Nearby in Gush Etzion is a sound and light show about the founding of the community and early settlers that would be worth pairing with this experience.

Lot of testosterone in this place. If you actually have ever shot a gun before, the .22 rifles they give you to try are pretty silly. They run around with Mac 10s slung off their vests but in the end after a lot of stupid running around in the heat, you fire .22 rifles for 20 minutes. The kids had a ball pointing fake wooden machine guns at each other.

Shame on TripAdvisor for allowing people who I am almost certain did not even visit this attraction to write reviews and turn this into a political forum-something it most certainly isn't. But since certain people think it is okay to do such a thing, I myself am going to give it five stars before I even attend the event next month. I will only say it is important for any sovereign nation to be able to defend itself against its enemies, and from the reviews given by the people who have actually attended the event, it seems that Caliber 3 shows us with hands on experience just how important that is...

The place is difficult to get there unless you go by car or taxi, the staff is nice and helpful, but the "Shooting Adventure" contained very little shooting,

Unless you are interested in the history and ideology of the IDF and Caliber3, it's quite expensive for actually only shooting 3 times in two hours.

You also get a demonstration of them working with a dog, and some info on what to look for when trying to identify an aggressor which was quite interesting.

In all, I had expected more shooting, or to be able to actually look at the weapon, understand how it works, how you load it, etc., or to use more than one type, or shoot from several distances.
And less propaganda and self-adulation.

We were traveling with a family of 7. Mom, Dad, Grandma and 4 kids, ages 13, 17, 22 & 24. Saw a review of Caliber 3 online and was fascinated. They have a 2 hour "Tourist" Shooting Adventure.

In it, you learn about counter terrorism and how the IDF deals with terrorism. It's 25 mins south of Jerusalem. Following their instructions is difficult. Best to put their GPS coordinates into your GPS or iPhone for turn-by-turn directions.

You MUST make a reservation before arriving.
You MUST bring your passports.
You MUST wear closed toed shoes.

I told my wife and grandma they didn't have to participate and shoot the weapons. They didn't want to shoot.
Caliber 3 said no problem. Whoever didn't want to shoot, could watch and still participate with the interactive instruction.

The instructor was very friendly, very stern and no-nonsense. Even though there'd be shooting during our program, he declared it to be the safest place in Israel and he was right.

Nobody moves or does anything without specific instruction from these combat instructors. This is the largest private security company in Israel. They train security personnel and the IDF.

From the way they move, to the way they handle weapons, you can see that these are mostly career special forces guys. Very impressive.

We each had an opportunity to shoot .22 caliber weapon.
Then we shot a .22 caliber Ruger rifle with laser rangefinder.
That was really cool.

Then we did a stress drill to get us disoriented and our heart rate up and then challenged us to shoot the rifle at our intended target.

While doing this drill, my 13 year old son did a move that was noticed by the senior combat instructor. He asked where he learned that. We explained that my son was training in Krav Maga.

He then asked my son to show him how to defend against a knife attack. The instructor liked what he saw and asked my son to participate in a live-fire demonstration.

My son was going to defend against a knife attack and then race to the firing line, grab a pistol and shoot the intended target.

I will tell you that this was the highlight of my son's trip here. The demo was done beautifully and he hit the target. He received some really great praise from the senior combat instructor and you should have seen the smile on his face all day.

I will eagerly return here with my family when we return to Israel.
Every one of our family members felt this was a fantastic experience.
Highly highly recommend it.

I was part of a small group of seven, including two adults, three young boys (7,9 and 12) and two teenage girls (16, 18). The educational portion of this half-day session offered a unique perspective of the challenges of counterterrorism and approaches used to avoid dangerous situations if possible and manage them effectively if necessary. We also learned basic procedures in the use of handguns, assault rifles and sniper rifles, and fired each under very careful supervision. Our instructor, Eitan, quickly learned about all of us in his group and was able to tailor comments to maximize the understanding and appreciation of his role by all of the diverse members of our group. The gun safety and shooting portion of the morning was certainly a "draw" (so to speak) of the visit (with the emphasis on safety). But the educational portion around counterterrorism and the need for specially trained soldiers like Eitan was both sobering and inspiring. This visit was recommended to us by a number of others, and everyone had the same reaction, that this is a special experience that highlights the skill, training and dedication of a very unique group of individuals. You can't truly appreciate the concept of "counterterrorism," the term which is bandied about regularly, without having spent time with Eitan and his colleagues. Their function and the operational risks that they take represent a true "safety net."

Our kids thought this was awesome. Our parents (70+) really got into the training and had big smiles on their faces. Everyone learned something and got a tiny taste of military training in Israel. The staff was professional, entertaining and informative. The program is tourist-y but conveys a really important message about Israel and IDF (never again and a good explanation of the IDF principles). However, there was one thing clearly missing from the experience - women soldiers. Women soldiers have been in combat now for years - both in Israel and the US. as combat pilots, combat soldiers, now even Navy seals. It's 2019. Why are there none at Caliber 3? I asked and was told that having women was 'complicated'. Its only complicated if you make it complicated, guys. Women helped found the state of Israel, lead Israel and have always been part of the IDF and its predecessor military groups. The Caliber 3 experience would be improved and enhanced by having women combat soldiers. I'm not sure of the mission of the tourist programs at Caliber 3, but query whether a stereotypical "boys club" atmosphere helps achieve that. My guess is no.

This experience exceeded our expectations -- it was not only a shooting exercise, but a real-world training session tailored for tourists, for this particular program. It gave us insight and appreciation for the brave counter-terrorist operatives who are on the front lines protecting the civilians in Israel. Safety was paramount and it was accessible for all ages. A must do while in Israel.

We went there expecting just to shoot. They really got us immersed in what it takes to provide security in a land surrounded by sworn enemies. The shooting was exciting but short for the cost. It was a great experience but rather expensive, which is why I'm giving it a 4.
