We just called to rent two mountain bikes for two days in Brda (Kozana). Honestly we first did not want to take electric bikes because this felt so old😉 But because of a knee injury of my wife we took electric ones. Alex who brought the bikes is such a nice guy who directly gave recommendations where to go and he said, usually one does not take other bikes than electric after testing them. His bikes look brandnew and worked perfect. We have never expected such fun when climbing a steep mountain so easily. We drove almost 60-70 km a day and even in the utmost sun it was great! I can recommend this in the Brda hills to really everyone and yes, we would never take here a „normal“ bike again!

Many thanks for your kind review!! We couldn`t be happier to have returning guests in the region! It was a pleasure to set you up with our premium E-bikes - you are right, they are brand new! With these E-MTBs it`s really easy to explore Brda region as well as Vipava valley and Karst. The landscape around here is quite hilly so a bit of E-assistance really comes handy - especially in the summer heat!

When it comes to eBikes, there are only two types of people. The ones who love them and the ones who haven't tried them yet. And where better to try them than in the beautiful Vipava valley.
It's just an awesome place to cycle regardless of your skill level or motivation. You can get your heart pumping on some steep climbs and great single track descents. Or you can take it a bit easier and decide to enjoy the views, have a few more stops along the way and sip on the occasional drink from the vineyards and grab a bite of the local produce.
We've used RockVelo's services many times and they are always professional, helpful and greet you with a smile. And they make sure the tour is exactly what you're looking for. Highly recommended!

many thanks for your review, kind words, and lots of useful information!! We are really happy to have returning guests - it says something about the overall bike experience we are offering! You are absolutely correct about the E-bikes; they are definitely not something "for the lazy ones". E-bikes make a lot of fun and you definitely can have a great exercise with them! It`s why we are only renting the high-performance electric mountain bikes, that are capable of some serious off-road riding too ;)

This was our first family ebike tour. We rented two bikes and the toddler trailer for our 2 year old boy. Alex greeted us and suggested the places we could go visit. Our boy never rided in a ebike trailer before so I was unsure how things will work out. Initally its was a little strange to have a trailer on the bike, but you quickly get used to it. Our boy had a great time and even fell asleep. I would definately recommend to try the toddler trailer if you are thinking about doing a family activity. Me, my wife and our boy had a great time.

Rockvelo was recommended to me by the Saskida campsite in Velosce since my bike got a flat tire. My outer tire was punctured and needed to be replaced. We called Saturday evening and could already come by early on Sunday morning. My bike was repaired in no time, the service was great and the people were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend!

Bikes were in excellent condition and really easy to use. Superb locality to go out and explore with plenty of road and off-road options allowing us to have some amazing views across the valley. A thoroughly enjoyable day out exploring was had by the whole group! Alex is a fantastic, bubbly and warm owner who has a wealth of experience - he will definitely ensure you have a brilliant time. If you love getting out on a bike and are in the area then this is an absolute must!

We rented mtb's for a really nice tour through the valley. The bikes were very good and well prepared. The surroundings in the valley are stunning and the people we met very nice. Unfortunate we had a flat tire, but Alex responded very quickly and helped us out very good.

I want to compliment Alex and his team for the excellent service and arrangements he made for our transfer from Munich Airport to Klagenfurt in Austria for our Ironman Race in July 2018. All our bike boxes and luggage traveled with us and he managed to move 6 big bike boxes and 7 passengers all at one go from the airport to our hotel. The drive was more than 4hrs and he made stops for us to stretch and relax along the journey.
After the event, he gladly arranged to transfer our bikes to our Munich Hotel in advance while he arranged another transport for us to tour Slovenia and Croatia. All in all a very satisfying and good experience to know that all our bikes were properly handled and safely transferred to its intended destination without us having to accompany the bikes after the race.
Well done Alex and I would recommend your services anytime.

I booked a self-guided tour to experience this new e mountain bikes. Alex greeted me and provided a short brief of the bikes and the equipment provided in the backpack. I downloaded the mobile app, easily attached my phone to the bike and started my adventure.
The initial hill from Skrilje to Kamnje was a great way to experience the power of the e-motor and great suspensions of the bike. I continued to Vrtovin with a great downhill and great views. Next was the uphill to Brje and great views from there on the valley. I ended the tour rinding past Vipavski križ and returning to Skrilje.
Even if I'm not at my best fitness level I really enjoyed the ride and at the end, I was pleasantly tired and happy to have decided to take the tour.
I would definitely recommend the experience to anyone interesting to explore Vipava Valley.

Thank you @Starsplash84 for your detailed and honest review. The route you took is really nice and offers some great views. Despite the hilly terrain, it is easily done by e-bike and we are so happy you`ve had a great experience!

Rockvelo’s electric bikes are a must for touring the Brda region, especially if you plan to visit Smartno. Unfortunately, the bike they had for my 9 year old was too big. No worries, Alex who was our guide, sought out a mountain bike that made my son comfortable and met us at a future stop to get him squared away. It got us back on track for an amazing day and a family experience we will never forget. I would recommend a child’s electric bike for Rockvelo in the future, but the fact that Alex went out of his way to ensure our day was very special and he was happy, made us very grateful. Requesting Rockvelo to tour Brda is a must, for great exercise, and a fun way to tour all of the beautiful villages along this gorgeous mountainous countryside.

I had a really great experience with Aleksej and his Rockvelo team. He is a great guide and makes everything for you to feel comfortable on your bike. This tour certainly was something special to me - with small surprises which I will remember for the rest of my life.

thanks for posting this question. Self-guided tours come at 59€/person including GPS navigation, e-bike rental, helmets & cycling backpacks.
We`re able to book you tastings and lunch along the way, tastings come at about 15€/person and lunch at about 30€/person.
September-late October is a perfect time of the year for cycling in Vipava Valley! You may book your tour / bikes on our website.
