Ae, Scotland’s shortest village name is only 20 minutes from the M74 motorway in Dumfries and Galloway... But ride its trails and you’ll think you’re in another world. With a superb variety of green, blue and red graded trails, an extreme rated downhill section, skills area plus a bike shop and great cafe you could not want for more at Ae.

Really enjoyed the trails at Ae although prefer Mabie and Dalbeattie. The cafe is good with a decent selection of hot and cold snacks. Well worth a visit if you haven't been before.

Amazing mountain bike trails at my favourite of the Dumfries and Galloway Seven Staines. Similar to Glentress and Innerleithen but without the crowds of people. Beautiful part of the world.

The red mountain bike trail at Ae provided us with a very enjoyable ride this week. The 21km (by my garmin) took us through a variety of terrain and even the uphill sections were well thought out and scenic. The final omega man descent was...More

Did the red route a few years ago and revisited last weekend- glad I did. The good bits were as good and scenic as ever, but the changes have really improved the overall trail, with less forest road and more exciting downhill sections; there are...More

As is one of the 7 stanes trail centres. I've ridden the red trail a few times and also done an uplift day on the shredder course. The scooter trail is excellent and has some brilliant features and testing descents. The shredder was great fun...More

Back again to challenge The Shredder. The Shredder at Ae is a downhill track for "beginners", but don't let this tag fool you, it is plenty brutal if attacked at speed, with jumps and drop-offs aplenty, a short fire road section takes you onto the...More

The Ae Forest blue run was only my third outing on a mountain bike and proved to be perfect for a complete beginner, with much of the trail shared with the green route. One steep hill (at least steep for me) but thankfully not too...More
