We've taken part in a tour and our guide Lizzie made this a fantastic experience. She was not only very knowledgeable and engaging, but also genuinely friendly and helpful. I've been on a fair few distillery tours, but this one was easily the best so far. And, of course, GlenDronach whisky is very good so a dram of their 18 year old whisky was in order after the tour and tasting. If you're looking for a distillery tour, you can't go wrong with this.

New visitor to a whiskey distillery.
Having never been to a whiskey distillery I was unsure as to what to expect. We were greeted by pleasant and helpful staff and then the tour began. Lizzy was insightful, friendly and amazing to listen to and taught us about the history of the distillery and the process of making whiskey. Lissy was helpful all the way to helping me spend money on some amazing whiskey.

    Lovely staff, beautiful area!
My parents and I visited the distillery on our travels. We met the lovely Vicky, John, and Hannah who informed us of the history and as much knowledge as they could in our short time in the visitors centre. We had tea, coffee and fudge (which is especially delicious!) and walked around a little bit but did not have time to join a tour. We will definitely be returning for a tour in due course as the staff were very friendly. Hannah was returning from her tour at the time and truly sold it for us, it looked very informative and fun!

Tremendous distillery experience - great guide and great whisky!
We visited as a family group and had an excellent tour and whisky tasting experience. The sherry influence was examined in close detail and the tasting session looked at this in detail. The whiskies are amazing! Lizzy our host was highly knowledgable, entertaining and an all round lovely person! There is the opportunity to bottle your own whisky. The facilities are very good too - a bar area, shop and a stunning tasting room. Highly recommended.

There were only two of us on our tasting tour. It was just brilliant to experience first hand how whisky is made and how it all started with GlenDronach. A big thank you to Lizzi, who showed us around the distillery and gave us very detailed information. Just for your information, she lived in Germany for a while and speaks German. So if you don't understand something, just ask in German. 😉

Beautiful distillery, great tour, best scotch
During our week long guys trip to Scotland, we toured several distilleries (and tastings only at others). We are so glad we choose Glendronach for one of our tours! The distillery is smaller, so you get a more personal, “family” type feel. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and we visited ALL areas of whiskey production, including a warehouse. Most larger producers only let you see a small portion of a distillery from behind the ropes. At Glendronach we were up close and personal and felt like we really got to see everything! The tasting room and the lounge were beautiful, although due to timing of the tour we were not able to enjoy the lounge afterwards. The hand bottled distillery exclusives are an absolute must in my opinion. Being an experienced scotch drinker, it’s now my favorite bottle of all time. I only wish I bought 7 of them! Don’t miss this gem, it’s away from Dufftown but totally worth it!

    A masterclass whisky experience!
What an amazing time at GlenDronach! This was my second tour and I treated myself to the Boynsmill experience. Hands down the best way to tour a distillery. The hospitality of the staff was incredible, Lizzy’s vast knowledge of the history and production of GlenDronach, John’s excellent pours of drams, the food pairings were all a masterclass and a whisky lovers delight. I highly recommend the GlenDronach distillery to any whisky lover and you are bound to enjoy the lovely scenery and high quality drams which make this a must do experience!

    Fantastic!!!
Fantastic Tour on the “Sherry Masterclass”. Having been on many tours at Glendronach, I can say this was the best by far. Lizzy the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about everything Glendronach and had a great personality also. 5 stars!

    Blue sky over Forgue......
As being our small WhiskyClub favorit Distillery, it was top 3 on everybody's bucketlist, and thus our visit in late August 2024 was inevitable. We arrived in sunny Forgue before noon and relied on chances of getting a tour. Tours all booked, but as we were 6 guys, Ryan at the desk asked the management if he could do a VIP tour with us out of schedule. He was handed a go ahead, and it turned out a very funny and hilarious tour as Ryan was good storyteller and comedian. Kudos to Ryan for making the visit memorable. The tasting was standard 12 yrs, Revival, and the Port expression. The revival being the best choice. Fantastic day at Glen D. Distillery.

    Glendronach tour
My visit to Glendronach distillery was truly a highlight of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in the deep history of the distillery, which was incredible to witness firsthand. Our guide, Emma, did a fantastic job bringing the story of Glendronach to life, walking us through both the historical context and the production process in such an engaging and informative way. One of the best parts of the tour was the unique tasting experience. We had the chance to compare sherry wine with Glendronach's sherried whisky, specifically with both PX and Oloroso. It was fascinating to see how the characteristics of the sherry carried over to the whisky, highlighting the influence of the cask. Comparing the rich sweetness of the PX with the drier, nuttier notes of the Oloroso really helped illustrate how each contributes to the depth and complexity of Glendronach’s whiskies. Emma’s knowledge and passion for Glendronach’s history and whisky-making traditions made the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re a fan of sherried whiskies and distilleries with a rich heritage, a visit to Glendronach is an absolute must!

Arrived early, as did the other guests on the tour so were offered the opportunity to start 30 mins earlier, which we did.

The distillery is going through a huge transformation as the owners are investing heavily. Extensions to buildings, new and larger Machinery being put in (Mash Tuns, Washbacks etc) and a new visitors centre - all being built for 2026. We saw some of this in action but it didn’t disrupt the visit.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and very friendly. She explained well but was not condescending but also had a lot of historical stories, including the ghost of the ex-lover of the 1st owner. Anecdotes like this added to the trip.

We opted for the Sherry Masterclass. When booking we were aware we were getting better than the core range, but this turned out to be a double edged sword. We were given 4 drams of whisky (each bottle would cost approximately £200 so decent liquid), 1 of new make spirit and 2 Sherries - Olorosp and PX.
The order we tasted led to us drinking sweet and very sweet PX Sherry first then the whisky. I think this worked well, but 3 of the 4 drams were cask strength. One might be grateful, however all were very strong and, for me, I felt it would have been better to have a wider range. On the plus side, we got to taste the two bottle your own cask strength whiskies, that are currently being sold only on site.

After the tasting, which was well managed, we headed for the bar and had a small sip of the 15 from the core range.

(A side note - Glendronach have recently had a rebranding and a price increase - the latter being a shame - as it will cost quite a bit more to enjoy this whisky now).

All of the whiskies were very nice, the tour informative and the guide friendly. I think there are big things in store for this distillery.

My dad and I benefited from visiting late in the season and it was just the two of us for the 90 minute tour. Our guide, Lizzie, pitched it perfectly - history, technology, science all told in a way that brought Glen Dronach’s amazing story to life. I’ve done a few of these tours now and this was the best in terms of consolidating what I knew but giving me tonnes of new insight. Credit to Lizzie for that. We started in the bar, and then toured the facilities, ending with a super special tasting event that focused on the impact of the sherry casks. Fabulous.

Glendronach happens to be my favorite whiskey. Like their product, their people go above and beyond to please their customers. I had been hoping to make it to one of their master classes; the one on the use of Sherry casks. Unfortunately I was able to make it for any of the scheduled times. We were lucky enough to have Lizzy to not only be our guide for our tour but she also ran us through the class for just my wife and I. She was incredibly knowledgeable and personable and guided us well. Before we started with her we mentioned that we don’t like “peaty” or angry scotches. At the end she gave us a sampling of a scotch had us convinced that we shouldn’t rule out the peaty scotches. My wife, who has been on several distillery tours commented that for the first time she felt someone had explained it in a way that made much more sense to her. We came away more knowledgeable and feeling even better about drinking their product.

Myself and family of 7 travelled from Telford to Scotland for our holidays. It was a 70th birthday gift to bring our dad to the distellery. On arrival we were welcomed with a cold shoulder. Our 3 year old being a curious child turned a tap on the barrel which was immediately switched off by an adult. We could not be more apologetic towards the older lady who approached us aggressivly stated that the child had opened the tap on "a £400 whiskey" again we could not be more apologetic. We even offered to clean the tiny mess made. The lady then abruptly asked "what do you want" to which we were stunned. We asked about a tour to which she replied "haven't done one since 2020" then turned away from us. Awkward and embarrassed we all made an exit. The women then proceeded to laugh as we walked away from the establishment. Never in my life have I ever felt that uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Dad was extremely disappointed about his birthday treat being ruined. We won't be visiting again. The older lady needs some lessons in customer service and some manners to say the least.

Calum is not only enthusiastic, professional and approachable, but his depth of knowledge about whisky also made us wish the tour didn’t have to end! He should write a book to debunk whisky myths :) The masterclass was thoroughly enjoyable, with a wide range of flavours in the tasting. Would say of all the distillery tour guides we had, Calum is the best! His passion shines through in the innumerable questions he answered with such a nuanced approach.

Just left after our tour by Lizzy and it was great 11/10. Amazing knowledge and passion. She spoke more in-depth than a lot of the other tours we have been on. Such a warm and friendly personality. The distillery was canny too! You could see all the little fine touches for their own unique methods. Not a keen whiskey drinker but still included in the smelling side which was a lovely touch. Have high hopes these could be the whiskey I can enjoy going forward. Will 100% be returning after their renovations have been completed!

The glendronach sherry master class is a real favorite for me. We got to see a distillery that is more working on a old school way and the tasting provided a real taste of what whisky with sherry casks can provide. The tour guide knew what she was talking about and give us a lot of useful tips.

My father and I visited in mid February and absolutely loved our experience. It helps that Glendronach is my favorite single malt, but even if that weren't the case, I still would strongly recommend stopping here. We did the "Connoisseur's Tour" which consisted of a detailed tour of the distillation facilities along with stories and history of the distillery, a visit to the barrel house, and a tasting of 6 products in their beautiful tasting room. We were the only ones on the tour, and as expected, the whisky was fantastic, but we were also thoroughly impressed with the quality of the tour and true love that our guide has for their product.

We were presented with 12, 15, 18, 21 yr drams, as well as two special releases, a 1993 Master Vintage bottling and a 1994 handfill cask. We could not have been happier and this was most certainly one of the best parts of our visit to Scotland. Don't come to the region without stopping here!

Would recommend this tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and covered everything. The hour flew by. This may not be the most well known distillery but it is in gorgeous scenery. Has great whisky and is steeped in history. The 3 nips at the end round off a great experience

I dropped by the distillery, by myself, without an appointment hoping they might indulge me with a tour.

I was lucky I visited when it wasn't too busy. Yvonne Dixon guided me around the distillery on a personal tour. Not only did she show me the distillery but she also told some personal stories of her experience working for Glendronach.

I had a wonderful time and I highly recommend you dropping by as well.

I you do see Yvonne say hi for me and give her a bozy (hug).
