About
Now celebrating more than 100 years, Exbury Gardens is a spectacular collection of woodland, herbaceous, contemporary, formal and wildflower gardens. At over 200 acres, these impressive gardens (created and managed by the Rothschild family) border the Beaulieu River and boast a narrow-gauge steam railway, plus a newly refurbished restaurant and an outdoor cafe. For garden lovers: Capture Exbury’s hidden beauty and escape the cares of the world as you explore a myriad of pathways lined with rare trees and shrubs at your own pace. Seasonal highlights include rhododendrons and azaleas in spring, herbaceous borders and hydrangeas in summer and acers and nyssa in autumn. For families: Feed giant koi carp and golden orfe fish at Top Pond, complete a range of free activity sheets for children aged 3-11 and let off steam in the adventure play area. Visiting during the school holidays? Check out our brilliant events tailored to children and families.

Gardens full of stunning colours.
May 2021
I visited the gardens with my family and dog and fortunately the weather was kind to us and certainly the best time of year to visit to see the gardens bursting with colour . Whichever path you take with there are ponds, water falls , river walks - there is so much to see with plenty of seats and areas for picnics plus a train ride. We enjoyed a coffee and everywhere it was very well organised . It was disappointing there were not many rhododendrons or azaleas for sale.

Well worth a visit.
May 2021 • Family
Had a lovely day at exbury gardens today.
Elderly parent in wheelchair, and sister with limited walking ability in our party.
First time we have been there when the bluebells are out in full force, also a lot of the azalea and a lot of the rhododendrons. This years weather is crazy.
Was busier than normal and tickets are timed entry at the moment.
Train ride is worth taking although could be improved by having a commentary about the history of the gardens.
Outside refreshments only atm but this should change as restrictions are relaxed.

Spectacular Day Out - A Definite “Must”
Apr 2021 • Couples
Visited Exbury Gardens today with my brother and his wife. Never been there before despite living in Hampshire for 40 plus years.
In a word, the gardens are stunning. Too much to appreciate fully in a single day so we shall be returning in the near future. We were lucky in that the weather was fine and sunny despite the gloomy weather forecast and this is definitely the best time of year to visit when the blooms are so vivid and spectacular.
We also took a trip on the train which was great for getting an overview of the gardens. Well worth doing.
All in all, a brilliant day out.
Oh, and most importantly , plenty of toilet facilities and cafes.

Riot of Colour
May 2021 • Couples
We became members after our first visit last month. This visit in May was even better - the azeleas, rhododendrons, acers and bluebells are magnificent and at their peak. This is such a peaceful place. We took my elderly mum and she loved it.

I also recommend the wonderful little VGF Cafe. Although we are not vegans or vegetarians usually we thought the food was fantastic. We loved the hoisin mushroom soft wrap tortillas. Well done to the chef and we look forward to trying other things from your inspired menu.

Exbury Gardens Colour Explosion
May 2021
I travel extensively across the UK photgraphing gardens both professionally and for pleasure. This is 200 acres of world class Azelea and Rhododendron gardens at there best right now. I have not done a trip advsier review for some years but the welcome I received was warm, the staff were very friendly and the gardens on a par with Arundel Castle and its 60,000 tulips. I would thorougly recommend a visit over the weekend and loved the steam railway trip. Have Fun.

Disappointing Visit
May 2021 • Couples
The gardens are beautiful, we visited in May when the Rhododendrons & Azealeas.were all in bloom.
After 2 hours walking around the grounds we returned to Mr Eddy's café to have an ice cream, the measly single hollow scoop in a paper tub, not even an edble cornet, can only describe it as a very disappointing purchase, certainly not worth £2.00!
Also there was no sign of any staff clearing the tables, there were dirty plates of half-eaten meals, dirty cutlery and other rubbish on every table, it was frankly quite disgusting and very unhygienic.
I don't think we will be visiting again very soon and would definitely recommend you take your own food & drinks.

200 Acres of paradise
May 2021
Considering I would normally drive to my next door neighbour I needed to excercise my feet and the magnificent Exbury Gardens provided the perfect remedy.
For anyone keen with nature’s beauty and for me the love of photography Exbury Gardens are incredible. I end up walking between 2 1/2 to 3 hours each time and if you had asked me to do that before coming to Exmoor I’d have said no way.
So having spent a number of hours exploring the gardens I have still have so much I haven’t seen there seems to be another spot of beauty around every corner. The staff there are very polite and accommodating too which adds to a fantastic day out.
