    Fabulous
A fabulous place to visit and so friendly. Amazing views, plenty to see and do. Met the animals and fed the baby lambs. Went on a Trailer ride pulled by the Tractor with sheepdog Blue. Coffee and Cake was very nice too! Lovely museum and nice little video from Michael Morpurgo. Will certainly be returning

    A fantastic afternoon out
A fantastic afternoon out. We wondered why it is only open from 2pm but it became obvious when we realised it is a family home and farm. Graham welcomed us at the entrance and took payment, informing us of the time of the trailer ride included in the price. We explored the farm and the kids loved the mini ride-ons, the play area and the animals - especially the alpacas. We turned up for the trailer ride, not expecting too much but Graham's knowledge wowed us and the children. We came away with a much better understanding of farming. We would recommend this afternoon to anyone.

    Wholesome day out
I had the most delightful visit to this family-run farm, which really offers something for everyone. The animal experiences were a highlight—especially being able to brush the donkeys, which felt so peaceful and personal. The farm's café, run by the farmer's wife, is a lovely little spot for a break, serving up basic drinks and cakes, and I highly recommend trying the chocolate cake—it's delicious! There's also an incredible War Horse Museum on-site, honoring the brave animals and people who served during the wars, particularly from the Hatherleigh area and nearby villages. It was so educational and moving. We visited during the summer for a date, and despite being in our mid-20s, we had an absolute blast. We ended up spending hours enjoying the tractors and even some competitive rounds of ping pong. It was the kind of wholesome, fun day where you can relax and really unwind. Overall, this farm is the perfect mix of history, nature, and fun activities—great for all ages!

This is a brilliant place to visit especially with children of primary age or even younger. There was a lot to see and do and many hands on experiences to try.

What was particularly good was the tractor ride with Graham the farmer. He really brought the farm to life and explained why traditional farming methods are still so valuable to us and to the environment.

Our 8 and 6 year old grand children were chatting about it all the way home and even as they settled for bed.

The admission price is very fair and you will be hard pressed to find a better way to spend an afternoon in Devon. We had a memorable experience, great fun and informative.

What a fantastic place to go for the afternoon. We went as a party of 9, two families with 5 kids aged from 13 to 6.

We were unsure what to expect but found a real hidden gem. The place has a lovely family feel, lots of animals to feed and pet. The favourites were feeding the lambs, grooming the donkeys and holding the baby goats.

We went on a tractor ride around a number of fields and the farmer shared his knowledge of farming and the animals on the farm. It was a really great experience. Graham totally made it enjoyable.

There is also a play barn with table tennis, pool table, little tractors and a large field for kids to play in.

All in all a great family day out, which was fun and informative. Great for all ages.

Definitely make sure you go!!

Thank you to Graham, family and team for an absolutely fabulous day. Two very happy adults and two exhausted 9 year olds. So many lovely animals and interesting things to see and do. Favourites were 2 day old donkey, alpacas and 12 very excitable 2 week old piglets. Bright (Collie dog) even kept checking to see if we were ok. Able to feed all the animals.

War Horse museum was super interesting and I’ll have to re-read the book now I can picture the farm that inspired the book.

Freshly cooked scones, Devon cream and jam were the perfect end to the farm trail looking for clues.

Grahams ‘Cow Safari’ was lovely and informative with a little help from ‘Blue’ another working collie who showed us just how to herd the sheep and cows perfectly.

Highly recommend a visit if you can.

Amazing great value day out for all ages. So much to see and do and a great way to learn about the War Horse story. Our children loved all the animals especially feeding the alpacas and grooming the donkeys, playing in the play barn and the older generation were fascinated by the museum and the story behind War Horse.
There is a lovely walk around the farm just right for the family. Graham, the owner, went out of his way to make our day so enjoyable especially as we turned up on a day that the farm was closed!

First time visiting and I’m sure we’ll be back. The weather was beautiful and the views from the farm are just outstanding. Our girls loved being able to get up close to the animals, even the cheeky goats who decided to open the gate themselves when we were feeding them! The farm currently has a piglets which was a huge highlight for us as we love pigs! The owners are very informative and friendly. The cake in the cafe was very good and reasonably priced and the trail to find the letters was also good fun.

This place is good value for money, I don’t normally go to farms but this place was very interesting.
There is lots to see - animals (alpacas, donkeys, goats, rabbits, cows, sheep, pigs, turkeys, chickens), First World War trench, trail and museum.
Also lots to do - feed the animals, go on a tractor ride to see the farm fields, play snooker, air hockey, table tennis, golf putt and football.
The tearoom has some tasty cakes, and average price. Loved seeing and listening to the history of the farm as well as the story behind War Horse. It is hidden away but it has a lot to do for how small the farm is.
All the family thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, we stayed from opening (2pm) till closing (6pm).
If we’re in the area again will definitely go again!

This is just the most amazing place! We had a fabulous time. So much to see and do. The museum is wonderful, there is so much information about World War I and the horses that were taken into battle. The trench was superb, especially with the sound effects playing as you walked around, gave a real feel for what it must have been like for the troops and the conditions they had to endure. Made me feel very thankful for all those men who fought and gave their lives. My absolute favourite part was seeing the donkeys and their foals, amazing to be able to go inside the stable and actually groom them, they are so friendly and beautiful and I shall cherish this experience ... can't wait to go back next year! The trailer ride was also superb. The farmer is so knowledgeable and shared a great deal of information while driving round the farm. Tea room was lovely, cream tea was delicious abd the best we have had this year. Such a lovely day for a very small price. Thank you so much and look forward to next time.

Everything you need here for a fun but relaxing family afternoon out. Nature trail, WWI and War Horse museum, LOADS of animals to feed and pet, great tractor ride, WWI trench, lovely cream tea, a couple of little play areas, gorgeous countryside...the best thing though is that's it's low key, quiet, not commercialised or gimmicky, just a purely authentic farm / history / literary visit. Will definitely come back.

Amazing! We had such a fun and educational time!
We arrived not long after opening and stayed till closing. There was plenty to do, so brilliant value for money. The tractor ride was great, the driver was brilliant with the kids and taught them so much about farming and dairy farming. The Dog rounding the cattle up was the icing on the cake.
My phone older son enjoyed the ww1 bunker and the play area, and my younger son really enjoyed the tractor ride and the animals. We enjoyed the cafe and the warm welcome by those working at war horse farm.
Thank you for a lovely day.
Will definitely be back!

This was an unexpectedly brilliant couple of hours, on our way home from north Devon. We would have stayed much longer if we weren’t rushing back for tea. There was SO much to do and it felt so safe, the children loved exploring. The views were amazing and there was some history thrown in too. I really couldn’t fault the attraction and would certainly recommend to others - just allow yourself a good three hours to make the most of it😄
