The one hour Raptor shows was so up close, personal and funny. Staff were great, very engaging and very respectful of our feathered friends. High recommended

We went to all three shows - the venom show, the raptor/ bird show and the reptile show. We've been to plenty of wildlife shows around the country and this one did not disappoint. At the raptor show we sat in the front row and...More

A must visit destination on Kangaroo Island for adults and kids. Our tour group thoroughly enjoyed this - a hands on up close activity. The rangers are excellent in their knowledge, demonstration, and showmanship. There is also a reptile show which we missed.

We had a short visit (30 minutes or so) to the Raptor Domain as part of our ship's excursion to Kangaroo Island. The staff/trainers here are friendly & knowledgeable. They not obviously love these animals, but must have a lot of patience with them. Following...More

We were almost going to bypass this attraction as had seen the bird show at Taronga Zoo and the Australian Reptile Park in Gosford and thought it would be the same. It was so not! Much more interactive and hands on. Our five year old...More

Far more educational and entertaining than 'birds doing tricks'. Great for young kids. Watch for Casper in the hollow tree.

Hi We only booked the raptor display. You can make your mind up to book a private showing while you're there.

Honeymoon on Kangaroo Island (11 Replies)
We have decided to visit Kangaroo Island for a week in early February. As this is for our honeymoon, we are interested in learning about any extra-special experiences on Kangaroo Island. We are not overly interested in luxury accommodation, but we love wildlife and being outdoors. We will have our own car, so don't really need full tours as such, more along the lines of special experiences, such as the private shows offered at Raptor Domain. Just wondering what else you could recommend....More

You can swim with wild dolphins w Kamgaroo Island Marine Adventures! We are going to do that in March. You can cuddle koalas and have an emu eat off your head at Paul's Place. They are temp closed but will hopefully have reopened by then. You can do a private encounter or the regular group one. Maybe a kayak trip or horseback ride?

Please revise for my 4 nights itinerary in Kangaroo Island (38 Replies)
I am from Sydney and will be intending to fly to Adelaide for 8 days in mid June renting a car with my partner and here is the panned itinerary and please let me know if this is OK and give any suggestions. We are more of a nature and view lovers plus photographer type of people. Sun - Arrive Adelaide 11am. Pick up car. Head to Victor Harbor to have fun. Then stock up groceries for the upcoming KI trip next morning Mon - Drive at 8am from Adelaide to take 10am ferry to KI. Arrive KI...More

I'm assuming you are staying overnight in VH, not Adelaide on the Monday?? So...where are you sleeping on Monday night? In your car in the carpark at Admiral's Arch? In June?? You have too much planned for Tuesday. We did pretty much the same last December - left in the morning from Admiral's Arch, did Hanson Bay but not the wildlife park, then visited Kelly Hill Caves and Vivonne Bay. By the time we got to Seal Bay it was 3pm. No time for Raptor Domain. Recommend you do Raptor Domain...More

Types of roads on KI and estimating driving times (6 Replies)
Hi. Where on the way to the following places and areas of Kangaroo Island, are there sealed roads, improved dirt roads (hard limestone surface), and unimproved dirt roads? (red laterite surface) How much time would you allow, and extra time would you add, to drive along (each area of the island) that has 'improved' or 'unimproved' dirt roads, when needing to drive at a slower speed? (such as: 50 to 60 kph) or even in wet conditions. - Penneshaw/The Eastern Part of the Island - ...More

Hi Andrew - I think I posted a link to a map showing sealed roads on KI in your other thread. Also, I'd suggest mapping out potential routes on google maps - you can also do a street view of the road to see exactly what type of surface it is. That's how I was able to determine where we could/couldn't go (although I did ask here specifically about Cape Willoughby and received replies ... but your list is quite long.) For timing, add about 20% to google times and you should be OK.
