Me and my family loved the visit to the Tea Factory and the herbal garden all perfectly explained by the sweet and kind family that run the Tea Factory from 3 generations. Really reccommand this place for a visit, very short distance from Matara or Mirissa. A big thanks to you for such a lovely experience.

When we went for the factory we have no idea what kind of process that they used. But after going to the factory we realized the procedure farm to factory. Also they have very peaceful area with beautiful sceneries. They guided us really very good. It is very excited to go again and feel the tea taste one more time. I recommend this tea factory 🌹

We were staying in Unawatuna and wanted to see a tea factory before we left Sri Lanka. After reading the Tripadvisor reviews we decided to visit this tea factory despite there being others closer, a decision that we did not regret. We booked a tuk tuk and driver to take us to the factory and wait while we had a tour. We arrived completely unannounced and despite this the owner of the factory sat us straight down and gave us a history of the factory. He was clearly passionate about it and is the 3rd generation of the family to run the business. Once we left the office (out tuk tuk driver joined us) the first stop was the family kitchen where they still cook using traditional methods over an open fire. We got to taste the fish dish that they were making (hope you like spice). After the kitchen tour we went down to the garden where all sorts of herbs etc were being grown and was given an overview of what they were and are still used for. Midway through the tour we sat down to a glass of iced tea (perfect as it was 32 degrees) whilst sitting down we saw monitor lizards roaming around, chipmunks etc. Resuming the garden tour it is apparent how passionate they are about everything they do. Quick trip into the jungle to a covered platform to look at the river. Big beware of crocodiles sign before you went in. Returned to carry out the tour of the tea factory where we were advised on the whole process. Finally ended up in the cafe for a tea tasting session (about 8 teas). I can honestly say I haven't tasted tea as fresh and full of flavour. Following this we sat down for a full pot of tea with our tuk tuk driver which was very pleasant. This tour was completely free and took about two hours. The only thing we were asked is that if we enjoyed the tour could we purchase something from the site shop. Given the reasonable prices in the shop we purchased several different flavours of tea. It's a very small price to pay for the interesting tour and iced tea. Please make sure you reward the time spent with you by purchasing something to take home with you. We did not feel disappointed at all with the tour and would recommend it very highly to anyone wishing to visit a tea factory

Had a great day here, spent the morning on a tour with one other guy and had an informed and very friendly guide around the property. I don't like tea but the tea tasting was interesting and there were some flavours that were enjoyable -- even for me who is not a seasoned drinker!

ended up buying a lot of tea for gifts to take home, a really nice, family owned and friendly company.

We arrived late in the day and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We were shown round on our own and the guide's English ( I think she was the owner) was excellent.

Everyone we met was so friendly and the tour itself is so interesting. The best part is the tea tasting at the end which is really enjoyable. The tour is free and lasts about 1.5 hours but bring cash ( card machine did not work for us) as you will want to buy some tea at the end.

Really enjoyable tour

Turned up to Nandana Tea Factory on a public holiday so it was closed, however there was a private tour about to start and they very graciously allowed us to join them. An interesting, beautiful, peaceful place. The blueberry iced tea was delicious, especially in the heat.

We had a wonderful experience with the owner as he personally brought us around his spice garden (we were a group of 7). He really was knowledgeable in his field and could answer all our questions. When he realised we were being bitten by mosquitoes, he even asked to bring insect repellent for us, so very kind. Good hospitality in showing us around and despite the rain, we still had a wonderful experience. Tea was fantastic, cakes were delicious. Please do not miss this wonderful place, you have to go.

An extraordinary tea tour offered free of charge by Gunasoma and his wife to anyone who makes the scenic trip through the paddy fields up to their plantation. We turned up unannounced and were hosted as if we were friends of the family, who have been here 3 generations.
The tour lasted a couple of hours and walked round the estate, learning about all the spice gardens most interesting and carefully labelled plants. Gunasoma and his wife were incredibly interesting and well educated guides, bringing the kitchen garden to life with medical applications and tasting opportunities, interrupted by regular iced tea refreshments, brought by the family.
They kindly looked after our daughter when she struggled with the heat, allowing her to rejoin the tour of the factory to learn how tea was made, before the tasting session.
There was no obligation or pressure to buy, but after tasting and seeing the beautiful presentation boxes on the shelves, we left with a bag full!
Thank you for looking after us so incredibly well!
